Suzuki Jimny Unveiled in Indonesia At GIIAS 2016

MANILA: Suzuki Indomobil Sales (SIS) has finally unveiled the newest version of its mini-SUV at the ongoing GIIAS 2016. The 24th edition of the much appreciated Indonesian auto event has been inaugurated today at the ICE-BSD City in the presence of various dignitaries from automobile world and Suzuki seized this opportunity by unveiling Jimny 2016 at the stage. The company was long overdue to bring a fresh face of its boxy mini-SUV and finally it looks like the wait was worth. The staged model has arrived with numerous changes in the aesthetics to make it more appealing and comfortable while keeping the same SUV DNA and sporty look intact.

The Japanese company has confirmed that they will import CBU or whole units directly from Japan initially and there are no plans for building the entire drive here in Indonesia as of now. Since the units will be imported from the Land of Rising Sun itself, this model would carry the same features and appearance with some exceptions to meet the needs of the Filipinos. The exterior has been kept simple with its unique boxy shape and large bumpers to support the SUV look. The small front radiator grille with six verticals and round headlamps gives it a perfect robust face. To its rear, a spare tire has been pinned at the stern which again accentuates the appearance of this rugged mini SUV while there are 15-inch alloys plotted under the pronounced fenders to ensure stability and complete control during off-roading.

The equally simple yet comfortable cabin of Suzuki Jimny 2016 is packed with sophisticated technology for the convenience of the occupants. So, there are Gear Shift Indicator (GSI) and Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) plotted at the dashboard with other necessary equipment.

The new Suzuki Jimny is powered by a 1.3-litre engine which is capable of knocking out a peak power output measuring 83 hp at 6000 rpm along with a peak torque showing 110 Nm at 4100 rpm. This engine is further supported with either 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission to support the efficiency.

Well, with all the information and tech-specs revealed so far, the updated model sounds good for adventurous off-roading. Since we Filipinos have Suzuki Jimny available in our country and this is among the appreciated mini SUVs, we can expect this model to arrive somewhere soon in the Philippines automotive market. With PIMS 2016 approaching soon, Suzuki might take a decision to stage this model up there. Fingers Crossed!
