Toyota GR Supra - All you need to know
It was earlier this month that Toyota Motors Philippines added a new member to its already extended family. We are talking about the supremely stylish and powerful Toyota GR Supra that is based on the FT-concept. Toyota’s new sport car carries a hefty starting price of Php 4,990,000. However, it remains to be seen what all it has on offer.

Here’s all the information one needs to know about the Supra -
- The latest Supra entering the Philippines is the fifth-generation model
- As mentioned, the latest GR Supra draws inspiration from the FT-1 concept and carry forward majority of its aesthetic elements
In the Philippines market, the GR Supra is available in three trims - GR Supra-Prominence Red, GR Supra, and GR Supra-Matte Storm Gray - It is to be noted that all the three variants as their name suggest difference from one another in color tone, rest all remains identical

- The all-new Toyota GR Supra measures 4379 mm in length, 1854 mm in width, and 1,294 mm in height. The wheelbase and ground clearance, on the other hand, reads 2,470 mm and 115 mm, respectively. Compared to the previous-gen model, this one is slightly shorter in length. However, it is wider and taller now
- The car comes with a seating capacity of only two (as can be expected by virtue of its size and sporty nature)
- The gross weight of the vehicle is 1,815 kg, and its minimum turning radius is 10.4 metre, both assisting it on the performance front
- The 2019 Supra model available in the Philippines goes by the name Toyota Supra 3.0L A/T, a lot of details gets clear from here, we mean under the hood specifications
- The GR Supra is powered by a B58B30M1 6-cylinder in-line, twin-scroll turbocharged engine with a capacity of 2,998cc. The said unit churns out a maximum power of 335 hp at 5,000 to 6,500 rpm along with a peak torque of 500 Nm from 1,600 to 4,500 rpm

- The power is sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission unit
- On the performance front, the car can hit the 0 to 100 kmph mark in just 4.3 seconds
- Proving a smooth ride experience is double-joint type MacPherson strut at the front and multi-link at the rear. It also gets adaptive variable suspension tech
- For braking duties, it gets ventilated disc brakes with a 4-piston fixed caliper at the front and ventilated disc brakes with a 1-piston floating caliper at the rear wheels
- On the design part, the front features LED headlamps with auto high beam and LED daytime running lamp, the grille is replaced by massive air dams, and the vast bonnet hints towards a potent powerplant underneath. The car stands on 19-inch wheels that are wrapped in 255/35 and 275/35 tyres at the front and rear
- The outer rearview mirror comes with dimming, memory, and heater function, and the door handle is grip type and color-keyed.
- On other things, the Supra GR gets dual front and rear exhaust pipe, LED side turn indicators, auto windshield wipers, glass-type antenna, rear window defogger, LED backup lamp, LED rear fog lamp, and LED high mount stop lamp

- Open the door, and you will be greeted by a whole bunch of comforting and luxurious features. Starting with the driver’s arena there is an 8.8-inch TFT LCD display with tachometer and odo/trip meter, and a 3-spoke leather steering wheel with paddle shifters, audio, cruise control, and phone switch, it also comes with manual telescopic and tilt adjust
- The dashboard features an 8.8-inch windscreen TFT LCD with USB and Bluetooth, navigation, remote and touchscreen control
- For entertainment purposes is a JBL 12-speaker HiFi surround sound system. Plus there is also a heads up display, digital clock, accessory outlet on the luggage and centre compartment, and dual-zone push-type air-con system

- The seats are spacious and comfortable with sport units on the front and they are covered in Alcantara. The gear lever and knob come with shift-by-wire, sun visors get a lamp, cover, and mirror, also the inside rearview mirror come with auto day and night functionality
- This iconic sports car despite its size features several storage options like four cargo hooks, storage net, seatback pockets, two bottle holders, and door pockets

- Making things easy for the driver are features like push start button, cruise control, integrated sport drive with sport mode, 8-way power adjust with memory seats, power windows, door lock, and outer mirrors (with auto retract function), electric parking brake, and back monitor
- Lastly, the safety kit comprises of SRS airbags (Driver, Driver Knee, Passenger, Side, and Curtain Shield Airbags), VSC, Anti-Lock Brake System, and Traction Control. It also gets the Toyota Vehicle Security System that features alarm and Immobilizer, and wireless door lock
