Toyota Tamaraw ambassador Coco Martin hypes up Sinulog Festival

MANILA: Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has spiced up Cebu’s vibrant Sinulog Festival with the Next-generation Toyota Tamaraw Roadshow. 

At the event, actor, director, and producer Coco Martin participated in the Sinulog parade with a Tamaraw-themed float and wrapped up the activity with a meet-and-greet at Toyota Mabolo, along with live performances. 

Additionally, Coco Martin personally handed over the keys to brand-new Toyota Tamaraw units to new owners at Toyota Mabolo. These were restaurateurs Marc and Christine Lin, and Eric Ong, who runs a construction and transport business.

Toyota Tamaraw new colors

To further spice up the Cebu edition of the Nex-gen Toyota Tamaraw Roadshow, TMP also rolled out new exterior colors for the Tamaraw FX DSL MT and the Dropside DSL MT variants. 

At launch, the Toyota Tamaraw was available only in Super White. Later onwards, specific trims of the utility vehicle were also made available in Silver Metallic and Black. 

Toyota’s local arm, however, further expanded the model’s color options with Greyish Blue Metallic and Super Red for the FX DSL MT trim, and Super Red for the Dropside DSL AT.

Toyota Tamaraw in PH

In the Philippine market, the Toyota Tamaraw has a price ranging from P767,000-P1.589 million across 16 different trims. 

Under the hood, the Philippine-spec Toyota Tamaraw may come with a 2.4-liter turbodiesel engine or a 2.0-liter gasoline mill. The diesel option can produce up to 148 horsepower (hp) and 343 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque. The gasoline version, meanwhile, can generate up to 137 hp and 183 Nm of torque. 

Depending on the version, the Tamaraw comes with a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic transmission. 

As standard, the Toyota Tamaraw uses a ladder-frame chassis equipped with an independent front suspension with coils and rear leaf springs. Stopping power for the model is provided by front discs and rear drums. 

On higher-spec GL variants, the Tamaraw comes with a seven-inch infotainment display with two speakers, Bluetooth connectivity, keyless entry, and USB ports. Safety, on the other hand, is handled by dual front airbags and an anti-lock braking system.
