Nissan X-Trail's US version receives nod from JD Power

MANILA: The Nissan X-Trail in the United States (US) — where it is called the Rogue — has been named the number one compact sport utility vehicle (SUV) for New-Vehicle Quality by JD Power in its 2026 US Initial Quality Study (IQS).

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How did the Nissan X-Trail (Rogue) perform in the 2026 JD Power Initial Quality Study?

The vehicle was named the number one compact SUV for New-Vehicle Quality in the 2026 JD Power Initial Quality Study (IQS).
  • How does the Philippine-spec Nissan X-Trail differ from the US version mentioned in the article?

The version recently reintroduced to the Philippines features an electrified e-Power powertrain (a 204-hp electric motor paired with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine that acts solely as a generator to charge the battery).
  • Likewise, Nissan was honored as second among mass-market brands by the same American analytics company.

“Quality is foundational to how we design, engineer and build every Nissan. That focus is reflected in our performance in the JD Power Initial Quality Study,” Nissan Americas Chairman Christian Meunier was quoted as saying.

“Rogue represents the very best of Nissan in the largest segment in the US, setting the standard in compact SUVs with the ‘No. 1’ ranking for new-vehicle quality,” he added.

    Other stories:

    Novel laurels

Per the US subsidiary of Nissan, the inclusion of the X-Trail in the JD Power 2026 US IQS is quite new. On that note, it is — the company pointed out — a powerful statement of vehicle quality and satisfaction for Nissan’s best-selling SUV.

The JD Power IQS surveys owners about 227 potential problems, organized into nine categories, to rank vehicles and brands based on problems per 100 vehicles (PP100) that occur during the first 90 days of ownership.

According to the manufacturer, its continued performance in this study reflects the brand’s ongoing efforts to deliver high-quality vehicles that satisfy American owners.

In the US, the Nissan X-Trail offers a bold combination of advanced technology, standout style and family-friendly versatility, with the adventurous Rock Creek grade for those heading beyond the pavement and an all-new Dark Armor grade that gives Rogue a refined, head-turning appearance.

Nissan’s US arm noted that the X-Trail gives drivers the added reassurance of available Nissan Safety Shield 360 safety technologies and is economical to own.

    Nissan X-Trail in PH

The Nissan X-Trail nameplate has made a comeback in the Philippines, but now with an electrified powertrain to cater to the shifting needs of Filipino car buyers, hence the “e-Power” moniker.

Propulsion comes from a single electric motor powered by a 1.85-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery, which is actively charged as you drive by a 1.5-liter inline-three gasoline engine with a single-speed electric drive transmission.

Maximum power output is at 204 horsepower and 330 Newton-meters of torque.

In terms of looks, it is similar to its American counterpart, with a large, gloss black grille donning the Nissan badge at the center. The fascia is flanked by sharp LED lighting and wears a rather chunky bumper.

The Philippine-market model wears a set of spoked 19-inch alloy wheels with 235/55 road tires.

At the back is a roof-mounted spoiler, sharp lighting, and a kick-activated power tailgate.

Inside, the Nissan X-Trail e-Power has leather upholstery, a D-shaped leather steering wheel, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.3-inch full digital display, and a triple-zone automatic climate control system.

For added convenience, it gets a wireless charger, power windows, and wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto connectivity.

    It stickers for P2.29 million.
