VinFast VF 6, VF 7 get 5-star safety rating from India's BNCAP

MANILA: The VinFast VF 6 and VF 7 were awarded a five-star rating by India’s Bharat New Car Assessment Program (BNCAP).

Per VinFast, these results demonstrate the Vietnamese car manufacturer’s engineering capabilities in meeting “stringent safety standards” while reaffirming its customer-centric approach throughout product and service development.

Scores

Based on the scores given by BNCAP, the VinFast V6 achieved 27.13 out of 32 points in AOP and 44.41 out of 49 points in COP. Meanwhile, the VF 7 got 28.54 out of 32 points in AOP and 45.25 out of 49 points in COP.

Further, both electric sport utility vehicles (SUV) scored the highest rating in the frontal impact tests. Meanwhile, the VinFast VF 6 and VF 7 scored 109 and 131 points, respectively in the pole side impact test.

“The five-star safety ratings awarded to VF 6 and VF 7 by Bharat NCAP mark an important milestone, underscoring the quality and high safety standards of VinFast’s electric vehicles in India, one of the world’s largest automotive markets,” VinFast India Chief Executive Officer Tapan Ghosh was quoted as saying.

“These results show that VinFast EVs are built on a robust engineering foundation and meet stringent safety assessment requirements. We remain committed to continued investment in product improvement, delivering electric vehicles that are not only environmentally friendly and technologically advanced, but also provide customers with confidence and peace of mind throughout the journey toward electrified mobility,” he added.

Built in India

The VinFast VF 6 and VF 7 are built in the company’s factory in Tamil Nadu, India.

Both models are equipped with safety features, such as seven airbags and variant-specific advanced driver-assist systems, such as auto lane change assist, adaptive cruise control, emergency lane keeping assist, front and rear automatic emergency braking, and blind spot detection.

“The two electric SUVs form an important part of VinFast’s comprehensive EV ecosystem in India, which encompasses local manufacturing, a retail network, charging infrastructure, and aftersales services. This integrated approach aims to deliver a seamless customer experience through strategic partnerships with local stakeholders,” VinFast wrote. 

Both the VinFast VF 6 and VF 7 are sold here in the Philippines and are joined by other models, like the VF 3, VF 5, and VF 9.
