Volvo PH confirms arrival of all-electric C40, XC40 Recharge next month

MANILA: Volvo Philippines has confirmed the arrival the fully electric C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge on October 4.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What powers the Volvo C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge?

Both models are equipped with a 183-kilowatt (kW) permanent magnet motor on the rear axle and a 11kW asynchronous electric motor on the front axle.
  • What is the range of the Volvo C40 Recharge and XC40 Recharge?

The Volvo XC40 Recharge can reach up to 537 kilometers (km) on a single charge and the C40 Recharge can drive up to 549km.
  • Dubbed the “twins,” the C40 Recharge and the XC40 Recharge have features that show the Volvo DNA running through them.

The two vehicles are built on the same platform. Both are all-wheel drive models and equipped with a 183-kilowatt (kW) permanent magnet motor on the rear axle and an 11-kW asynchronous electric motor on the front axle. The twin motors produce 408 horsepower and 660 Newton-meters of torque.

Both vehicles also come with an 82-kilowatt-hour battery pack, allowing the XC40 Recharge to reach up to 537 kilometers (km) on a single charge and the C40 Recharge to drive up to 549km.

The two new models also feature a sleek and modern design, with new front bumper and frameless grille plate. Both also come with the signature Thor’s Hammer headlights and 19-inch alloy wheels.

To create distinction, the Volvo C40 is designed with a sloping, coupe-like roofline, as well as a different tail light layout. It also has greater front headroom, while the XC40 has better rear headroom.

Volvo Cars was the first widely recognized car manufacturer to fully embrace electrification. It aims to sell only all-electric vehicles by 2030. The next generation of Volvo models aims to raise the bar for safety, underlining the company's commitment to become an industry leader in this area.

In the Philippines, Volvo is the first luxury car brand to introduce plug-in hybrid vehicles. It also became the first luxury car brand to offer an all-electrified lineup in the country, when it debuted a range of mild hybrid models in 2022.

“We are thrilled to introduce two purely electrifying models – the Volvo C40 and the Volvo XC40. These models both carry Volvo Cars’ ambition of becoming a fully electric car company by 2030. We believe it’s time for the Philippine market to discover the benefits of driving a pure electric Volvo car and experience for themselves what sustainable mobility is,” Volvo Philippines President and Chief Executive Officer Atty. Albert Arcilla stated.
