Honda hits 500-M MC global production milestone
Company clinched the achievement after 76 years

MANILA: Honda has officially reached the 500 million unit cumulative global production milestone of engine-powered motorcycles. The feat took the Japanese company a total of 76 years to achieve since its initial rollout of its first-ever motorcycle nameplate - the Dream D-Type in 1949.

Throughout the years, the brand has managed to clinch production achievements prior to its recent 500 million unit production milestone. The year 1963 marked the beginning of Honda's motorcycle manufacturing outside of Japan. It also reached the 100 million unit milestone in 1997, the 200 million unit milestone in 2008, the 300 million unit milestone in 2014, and the 400 million unit milestone in 2019.
Production for the marque slowed down a bit when the COVID-19 pandemic hit in 2020, though Honda shared that demand for two-wheelers and its production drive have since recovered. The year 2024 was also noted by the Tokyo-based corporation when it first entered the realm of electric-powered two-wheelers.

“For Honda, motorcycle business is our founder’s business, and will continue to be the company’s core business. In the motorcycle business, we have built the trust of our customers through our many products and services, which has enabled us to achieve a cumulative production volume of 500 million units,” President and representative executive officer of Honda Motor Corporation Limited Toshihiro Mibe said.
“I would like to thank our customers and all stakeholders who were involved in achieving this milestone, from development to production, sales, and service. Honda will continue to take on the challenge of expanding the joy of our customers around the world,” Mibe added.
In the context of the local market, Honda Philippines Incorporated (HPI) is already offering all-electric rides such as the EM1 e: with a retail price of P155,400, and the CUV e: priced at P273,000.

HPI’s latest product in the Philippine market, however, is the all-new PCX160 priced at P133,400 for the Standard and P154,900 for the RoadSync trim.

At maximum, the model can generate up to 15.8 horsepower and 14.7 Newton-meters of torque. It also comes with the RoadSync smartphone connectivity program, a five-inch digital meter panel, a USB Type-C charger, a passing light switch, and many other features.
