  • About Mazda Philippines

Mazda began its life as a cork producer back on January 30, 1920. Founded by Jujiro Matsuda, Toyo Cork Kogyo Co. Ltd. was one of Japan’s most reliable cork producers. It was in 1930 when Matsuda ventured into vehicle production with its first-ever vehicle called Mazda-Go, a motorized three-wheeled rickshaw with an air-cooled single-cylinder engine and a truck-style flatbed.

It was years after the 2nd World War when the company began eyeing on the development of the famed Wankel Rotary Engine, making way for models like RX-7 and RX-8. Mazda’s rotary power also earned the company a win at the prestigious Le Mans 24 Hour Race with the 787B in 1991.

Aside from the RXs, Mazda Philippines is also famous for its two-seat lightweight rear-wheel-drive roadster called the MX-5. Otherwise known as the Miata, the model now spans four generations, the latest of which came out in 2014 and covers 25 years of fun-spirited driving. Currently, SkyActiv technology is available in the latest Mazda2, Mazda3, Mazda6, and Mazda CX-5.

In the present generation, Mazda’s highlight is its SkyActiv Technology, which focuses on environmental conservation and improved fuel economy without sacrificing engine performance and driving pleasure. SkyActiv has produced a new generation of gasoline and diesel engines, more efficient transmissions, lighter chassis, and a modern body design language they call “Kodo.” These extensive technical breakthroughs all contribute to Mazda’s pursuit of 21st century automotive excellence.

5,244 Mazdas rolled off showroom floors and into homes of customers, representing the company’s best sales so far. In December alone, BAP recorded sales of 1,006 vehicles consisting of passenger cars, SUVs, and pickup trucks, making it the best-ever monthly sales performance for the brand. 9 out of the 12 sales months in 2017 were also the highest on record for the brand since 2004, with the Mazda2, Mazda6, CX-3, CX-5, CX-9, and MX5 enjoying impressive model sales for the year.

    • Striking design, fun to drive

After trading in my old car, the Mazda CX-30 seems to be a huge step up. Inside, the craftsmanship is quite good —soft-touch materials, minimalist design, and top-quality finishes everywhere. It is confident and composed on the road. The steering is quite well-weighted, and the cabin isolation is also quite good. I especially love the heated seats and heads-up display

    • A good seven-seat SUV for family buyers

While for regular commuting, the Mazda CX-8 is a great choice, the 2.5L engine lacks the power that is required for off-roading or quick acceleration. On the highway, the CX-8 is smooth, but when I push it, the engine seems to be a bit underpowered. This car is definitely not made for off-road adventures or aggressive driving. Design-wise, it is

    • Offers driving pleasure, style, and space in an elegant package

The Mazda 6 Wagon is one of the best alternatives to bulky SUVs, offering driving pleasure, style, and space in one elegant package. At 260 lbs and 6’4”, I find the front seating to be very comfortable and spacious, with excellent support and legroom for long drives. For its class, the Mazda 6-Wagon delivers impressive value with premium finishes, a

After searching for an affordable, fun second car for months, I chose the Mazda MX-5 RF for its open-air driving experience, and honestly speaking, I have zero regrets. Twelve months in, this vehicle and it never fails to lift my mood. The manual gearbox is well-tuned, and the engine revs smoothly to 7500 rpm. It comes with premium features such

    • A well-appointed and luxurious car

I haven’t had a single issue with the Mazda CX-9 in the last 13 months. It’s a great SUV with outstanding comfort and great driving dynamics. Through curvy roads, the Mazda CX-9 drives like a dream. In terms of reliability, I don’t have much to say since I only had this car for around a year and only 13,000 miles
