    Geely designers gave the Emgrand a front fascia that features a so-called "Energy Pulse" waterfall grill, which is flanked by sleek LED headlamps. Below these are one of the most reasonably-sized air dams and faux fog light housings you'd find in modern cars. 

    Meanwhile, the Emgrand's sides feature prominent shoulder lines, which meet the rear LED tail lamps. These rear lights come in a one-piece shape, formed by 190 LED bulbs that project three different light patterns when the car is locked or unlocked.

    Along with tasteful chrome bits and a rectilinear shape, the Emgrand possesses a styling that's more akin to more expensive metal. But we should expect no less than refreshingly clean styling from Geely. After all, the Chinese carmaker owns Swedish Volvo now, so the former could be taking many minimalist design cues from the latter's book.  

    Meanwhile, the Emgrand's big car feel could be attributed to its 1,250-kilogram curb weight, although a bit higher compared to this sedan's peers, is said to result to a more settled ride. What could also contribute to the Emgrand's refinement is its Geely-designed B-segment Modular Architecture (BMA), something it shares with the Coolray,

    As for features, the Emgrand is equipped with goodies that, back in the day, were the reserve of upscale and European metal. The "follow me home” headlight function illuminates one's path after disembarking from the car. The trunk also offers remote-release convenience. A leatherette-lined interior and sunroof add to the premium items list. 

    Now we come to the Almera. In contrast to the Emgrand's classy and comfortable projection, it seems that the Almera wants to specialize in sportiness and safety. 

    But let's not forget the Almera's swoopy styling, a huge improvement over its predecessor's bug-eyed appearance. As part of Nissan’s "Emotional Geometry" design-speak, the Almera proudly wears the brand's V-Motion grille and boomerang-shaped LED lights front and back. The blacked-out C-pillar saves the car's shape some visual bulk.

    For a more sprightly performance, all Almera cars pack a small one-liter, three-cylinder mill under the hood. It may be a small engine in terms of displacement, but thanks to turbocharging, the Almera's engine can produce 100ps and 160Nm from a lowly 2,400rpm. An N-Sport body kit spices up the exterior. 

    As for the Almera's safety gadgets never before seen in subcompacts, they are all bundled in the Nissan Intelligent Mobility suite. The NIM contains 360-degree camera, intelligent emergency braking (IEB), and rear cross traffic alert (RCTA).

    By providing a view of the Almera's surroundings to the driver, he or she can park in spaces made tight by people or objects. IEB stops the car when its senses a potential accident with the vehicle in front. When the car is reversing, the RCTA detects approaching cars from both sides when parking and provides this warning to the driver.
