Suzuki Philippines Incorporated (SPI) launched the Fronx not too long ago, looking to strengthen its foothold in the country’s crossover segment. That’s why it was one of the most viewed automobiles on our website for 2025. 

For those looking to bring home the nameplate this holiday season, we take a quick look at why we believe it has earned its place in our top 20 list. 

Modern looks 

The Suzuki Fronx boasts modern looks that make it fit for both city driving as well as for spontaneous adventures outside the metro. 

At the fore is a strong X-shaped fascia with a bold grille with large honeycomb design. The said latticework us flanked by sleek-looking daytime running lamps as well as a cluster of lights that make up its headlamp system. Right above its chin (with a skid plate-like garnish) is a meshwork with horizontal slats. 

Onto its sides are strong bodylines accompanied by thick plastic claddings on the wheel arches, lower portions of its doors, and side sills. Notable too are its blacked-out pillars, roof rails, and its set of 16-inch wheels with a polished two-tone design shod in 196/65 series tires. 

Its rear end sports a spoiler with an integrated brake lamp slightly shading its ample-sized window. It also gets a pair of taillamps connected by a horizontal light bar. It gets reflectors on the far sides of the hind side and is rounded up by a similar skid plate-like appointment at the back. 

The overall design of the Suzuki Fronx makes it somewhat of a head turner as it looks very different from other crossovers in the country. In fact, SPI noted that the nameplate was inspired by thoroughbred horses — specifically by a picture of a steed running at full tilt. 

In a previous report, Zigwheels Philippines noted that Suzuki Motor Corporation Chief Engineer for Product Planning and Automobile B&C Segment Division Takashi Yokoyama revealed that the inspiration for the Suzuki Fronx was sparked with a conversation with a customer who shared their own vision of what’s “beautiful.” Specifically, it is “something that combines strength, power, and style.” 

Yokohama revealed that he found the person’s answer to visualize, until he was shown a picture of the thoroughbred horse, that he caught a spark of inspiration for the vehicle, which he wanted to make look “strong, graceful, and beautiful.”

Sleek interior 

The cabin of the Suzuki Fronx looks sleek and modern thanks to an abundance of features that not only elevate its overall looks but also improve the driver and passenger’s experiences. 

First to catch one’s attention is the application of burgundy trims found on the car’s dashboard, door cards, and seats. Soft-touch materials also line the crossover’s surfaces, which help ensure that occupants of the Suzuki Fronx will enjoy their time inside the vehicle. 

In the areas of convenience and in-car technology, the nameplate packs an instrument cluster that combines analog gauges and digital meters, a floating instrument cluster that measures nine inches and has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. 

The said display also doubles as a rearview camera for added functionality. Mid-spec and top-of-the-line variants get an automatic air conditioning unit as well as a push-start button. A wireless charger and a head-up display are also available for the range-topping model. 

Like many vehicles in the segment, the Suzuki Fronx has a manual hand brake, which provides drivers with a more tactile feel when using the said function. Despite having seats finished in both leather and fabric materials, these feel comfortable for both short and long drives. 

Overall, the Suzuki Fronx is able to cater to the demands of people who are in the market for an everyday ride that blends decent technology and reliable materials. 

Signature mild-hybrid powertrain 

The Japanese carmaker fitted the Suzuki Fronx with its signature mild-hybrid powertrain system that helps the vehicle conserve fuel when meeting certain driving conditions. This means that compared to full-internal combustion engine-powered vehicles, it is more fuel-efficient without sacrificing performance. 

Under the hood is a 1.5-liter gasoline engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. 

The setup makes up to 98 horsepower and 135 Newton-meters of torque. 

While the said technology does not qualify would-be owners for the benefits of the EVIDA (Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act) law, such as exemption from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority’s number coding scheme, they can still enjoy some level of savings when it comes to fuel use. 

Suzuki Safety Support

The Suzuki Fronx is the model where the company’s Suzuki Safety Support suite of advanced driver-assist systems debuts. 

Aside from the standard safety technologies, the said system adds new safety features listed below: 

• Front camera, which recognizes objects in front as well as the lane or road boundaries
• Front radar, which measures the distance, direction, and relative speed of the objects, and transmits the data to the  front camera
• Sensors on both sides of the rear bumper
