2015 Frankfurt Motor Show: Updated Porsche 911 launched globally

MANILA: The Frankfurt Motor Show witnessed the arrival of refreshed 2016 Porsche 911. The new 2016 Porsche 911 is a facelift which got tweaked by the company and now comes with some minor aesthetic revisions installed with a new twin-turbo charged flat-six engine.

The 2016 911 gets new headlights with four-point daytime running lights. The front fascia appears redesigned with updated air vents and a larger bumper. The side profile gets new side mirrors and reshaped door handles. Comparatively, the 2016 Porsche is much bolder and attractive than its predecessor. The rear part of this sports car also gets some significant changeover as the engine cover now has vertical louvers accompanied with new rear bumper and slightly tweaked taillights.

Inside the 911, it has a two-tone cabin and the updated Porsche Management System (PSM). The center console features a 7-inch display with multi-touch gestures, voice control, online satellite navigation, Wi-Fi and Apple Car Play compatibility. The 2016 911 comes with an optional Sport Chrono Package which will feature a steering wheel equipped with four-mode switch knob that holds 4 driving modes: Normal, Sport, Sport Plus and Individual. The new Sport Response button sets the 911’s drive train for 20 seconds of maximum acceleration.

The engine installed in the previous model has been replaced with a new 3.0-liter twin-turbo flat-six engine. It produces 375 PS of maximum power output and a peak torque of 420 Nm on the standard Carrera while the Carrera S model produces peak power of 420 PS and torque of 500 Nm. Comparatively, Both the models get an enhancement of 20 PS power and 60 Nm torque from the pre-facelift versions.

With the combination of optional PDK transmission and Sport Chrono Package, Both the models are capable of accelerating from 0 – 100 km/h in 4.2 and 3.9 seconds respectively.
