2016 Chevrolet Spark Debuted in South Korea

MANILA: The 2016 Spark has indeed found new roads for itself and these are South Korean roads as general Motors has officially launched its new hatch in South Korea, dubbed as New Spark. It was revealed at the 2015 Seoul Motor Show in April and is based on all-new platform which would ensure “sophisticated driving experience.”

The Next Spark is taller by 40 mm to reduce aerodynamic drag and has increased wheelbase of 3,595 mm for better interior spacing. The car features Apple Car Play Connectivity through 7-inch MyLink infotainment system and has optional equipment such as cruise control and Corsa's City-mode heated steering wheel that would make driving and parking easier.

The car has increased list of safety features as well which includes Forward Collision Alert, Side Blind Spot Alert, and Lane Departure Warning system. Under the hood, the car carries a 1.0-litre Ecotec 3-cylinder engine which when mated to a 5-speed manual and a C-Tech automatic gearbox, delivers 75 HP of power and 95 Nm of torque. With new Start/Stop feature, the fuel efficiency reads as 15.7 km/l.

Available in three trims, the C-Tech, Eco, and Manual, the car will be built from globally sourced parts at GM's manufacturing facility in Changwon South Korea. The Eco LS would come for PHP 483,155 while the C-Tech LTZ would cost you PHP 587,198. The company has also reduced prices of the C-Tech LT and LT Plus variants by PHP 9,060 and 3,545 respectively.

With strength, safety, and style, this new Spark will bring sparkle into your lives, as it will be sold in Korea from August beginning and will be exported to 40 other markets all over the world, expecting the Philippines to be one of them.
