2016 Ford Mustang Rocket Speedster unveiled at Pebble Beach

2016 Ford Mustang Rocket Speedster unveiled at Pebble Beach

MANILA: This year's Pebble Beach is packed with a whole lot of excitement and flavors, as a number of mean machines can be seen camping around on the concept lawns of California. One such car making its appearance is Rocket Speedster by Galpin Ford and Henrik Fisker. The Rocket concept was first unveiled at the 2014 L.A. Auto Show, and since then it is a complete hit among the crowd, and this could be one of the reasons why the duo come up with a more extroverted variant, the Rocket Speedster.

The Galpin Rocket Speedster reminds one of the yesteryear Mustang beauty during the 60s and 70s, with a carry forward design language that still holds its charm. The only difference being the excessive use of carbon fiber, that will be replacing the earlier seen soft-top-cover of Mustang Convertible. The metallic red monster showcased hexagonal grille spilled with a carbon fiber elements, its sporty looks were further enhanced by the cunning looking headlamps and fog light. On to the side profile, the Speedster holds a fender-mounted airscoops giving the car a better downforce and cooling. Aerodynamics features like the air outlets integrated on the rear hood help channelise the airflow better, allowing the air to pass easily without creating a drag.

“When I worked on the Rocket Speedster project with Beau, the creative sparks were constantly in the air,” Fisker said at this weekend’s reveal. “When I was designing the speedster cover, I gave it extreme sculpture and dynamic lines that flows with the muscular body of the Rocket and created a new interior graphic to go with it.”

Inside the cabin area, the new Rocket sibling has received a completely different graphic treatment when compared to its predecessor. It now withholds body-color dashboard trim, two-piece setbacks and racing style Recaros. As per Beau Boeckmann, President of Galpin Motors, “Speedster Concept has added another layer of style to the car without losing an ounce of the incredible beauty of the coupe. It really has been a dream collaboration, combining Henrik's design execution with the performance and customization expertise of the Galpin Auto Sports team.”

Talking about its power-terrain, the all-new Mustang will be motivated by a V8 engine that churn out 735 PS of powerhouse, future details about its engine specs are yet to be revealed, but as per the speculations the convertible will mirror its coupe variant. This two-seater monster runs on a 21-inch five spoke alloy wheels with Pirelli P-Zero tyres that are missioned to enhance its performance. Further, adding to its power are the fully-adjustable suspension and well built Brembo brakes with 15-inch discs.

As for the price tag, no numeric figures are yet calculated, but the Galpin spokesman tells that that the price shouldn't vary much from the Rocket coupe. Interested buyers are required to place their order to Ford Motor Company dealership in Los Angeles or else several handpicked dealers in the U.S. and other markets that are also present at your service.
