2016 Honda CR-V Recalled Over Airbag Issue
MANILA: November has just started and it's on the path of becoming the recall month. With Porsche inaugurating the recall issue, we now have another auto player, up for participating in this not-so-good cause. The Japanese automobile manufacturer Honda is in the news, over the recent 2016 CR-V recall. Why? Well, the age-old recall cause, the faulty airbag, is again topping the charts.
This recall seems to be the smallest ever in the auto history, with only 515 affected vehicles. And off these ill-fitted cars, only 30 have been actually sold and are present on the road. These 30 cars, carry a faulty driver-side airbag, and will be soon notified by the company. According to Honda's press release, this latest eruption is not the part of the global recall of which 19.2 million Honda cars were part and had defective airbag modules, made by Takata.
On 12th October 2015, Takata notified both Honda and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, about an airbag inflator that ruptured during the factory testing. During the testing, on airbag deployment, the inflator ruptured with metal fragments striking the occupants, causing serious injuries.
The model manufactured in between October 12, 2015, to October 19, 2015, are being recalled by Honda Motor Company, Inc. The recall is expected to begin December 4, 2015, wherein the company will replace the driver side frontal airbag module free of cost.
