2020 Nissan Navara N-Guard breaks cover in Europe

MANILA: Pickup trucks have come a long way in recent times, haven't they? As we see the sales figures gaining momentum, automakers have also started offering newer and better pickups trucks than ever before. So much so that the pickup trucks these days come equipped with a host of features and creature comforts similar to conventional hatchbacks, sedans, and more importantly, SUVs. With that understood, the Nissan Navara pickup truck, which is a quite popular offering around the globe by the Japanese automaker, also flaunts a potent powertrain, alluring looks, and true to 2020 tech.

For the masses who always crave for more, Nissan also offers the N-Guard variant, a flagship model of the ever so popular pickup truck. And, for the 2020 model year, the Navara N-Guard comes with a few tweaks and upgrades to make a case stronger than ever before. For starters, the updated pickup truck for the European market gets a brand new finish in the form of electric blue, which joins the previously available colors, namely black, white, and grey. Moreover, the new blue also makes its way to the inside of the Japanese pickup truck as we see the leather seats and door cards flaunting blue contrast stitching.

Then we see the 2020 Nissan Navara N-Guard equipped with illuminated footwells. Speaking of other updates, the flagship model of the pickup truck now gets a spray-on liner for its load bed responsible for absorbing shocks and sound. The entertainment duties have been assigned to an eight-inch touchscreen that features Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, various connected services, and satellite navigation. Under the hood of the 2020 Nissan Navara N-Guard is a 2.3-litre twin-turbo four-cylinder diesel engine cranking 190 PS of maximum power at 3,750 rpm and a peak torque of 450 Nm between 1,500 and 2,500 revs.

The highly-capable diesel-fed motor is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, but customers can also opt for a seven-speed automatic transmission. Irrespective of the gearbox, the pickup truck features a part-time four-wheel-drive system with low-ratio for enhanced off-road performance. The towing and cargo capacities of the Navara N-Guard read 3,500-kg and 1,100-kg, respectively. Also, available as optional equipment is a rear differential lock.

Alongside the standard safety features like multiple SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, and others, the 2020 Nissan Navara N-Guard also features the Nissan Intelligent Mobility safety suite that brings along Intelligent Emergency Braking, Intelligent Around View Monitor, Hill Descent Control, Hill Start Assist, Electronic Limited-Slip Differential (eLSD) with cut-off, and Trailer Sway Assist. Nissan will start manufacturing the 2020 Navara N-Guard in February 2020 itself, and the pricing for the flagship pickup truck will start at £30,775, excluding VAT.
