2020 Toyota Hiace may feature a 13-seater layout

MANILA: The Toyota Hiace may go on to create numerous news stories even before its launch. It hasn’t even been a week since we covered a story on the upcoming Hiace. And now we have another one on the 2020 Hiace leaked images. In the previous leak, we saw the van featuring a hood instead of a flat-nose front. Something’s not right with Toyota’s privacy department, just kidding.

The newest leak showcases what could be the base variant of the upcoming 2020 Toyota Hiace. Reason being the absence of the fog lamps and the bald looking black plastic bumpers. And for the first time since the leaks have started pouring, there is an image portraying the inside of the van.

The variant we see in the image, in particular, is carrying a 13-seat layout. The bench type seats have made way for much better units with separate headrest along with a three-point belt for each passenger. The driver’s seat is also not a bench anymore and the layout is of 2-2-3-3-3 type.

Another image shows the dashboard of the new Hiace. The design does not feature a whole lot of changes and all the controls reside at the centre. The rearview mirror appears to be carrying a two-tier design and there is also a manual transmission gear knob. Dimension wise, the 2020 Toyota Hiace stands 4790 mm long and 1965 mm tall along with a wheelbase of 2985 mm. However, the interior space has gone down from 3,000 mm to 2,380 mm.

What is interesting is that the images show a left-hand-drive version of the new Hiace. This boosts our hopes of getting the van in the Philippines.
