Aston Martin DB11 Unveiled at Bangkok Motor Show 2016

MANILA: Aston Martin DB11, the performance kid carrying the British moniker was recently unveiled at the ongoing 2016 Bangkok Motor Show. The scenario was not only big for Thailand but was equally special for the entire Asia Pacific region. Why? Because it is the first time that this British automaker took its first step directed towards the region. Though the event is tagged as a mere showcasing with no information flowing about DB11 launch, it can be speculated that the market will receive this masterpiece by the next year.

All in all it's a good year for 'DB fans in Thailand’ as they are the chosen to ‘first experience this milestone model'. Before Bangkok International Motor Show, the recently wrapped up 2016 Geneva Motor Show became the car's first resting spot. Now with Manila International Auto Show just around the corner (April 7 to 10), we hope to see one standing in its full glory, making the Philippines second in the row after Thailand to receive this bombshell.

Aston Martin DB moniker is not new and has a history that dates long back to 1950 with models like DB2, DB4, DB5, DB6, DB7 and DB10 adding to its fame. Also, apart from the DB range the company is busy working on an Aston Martin All-Electric car, RapidE.

Talking about the Thai uncovered orange-beauty it looked strikingly attractive, taking forward Aston Martin unparalleled design and performance legacy.

Design Language -

  • Grand Touring Layout continued to be an integral part of the overall exterior design
  • The car seems to take inspiration from the likes of DB2/4, DB5 and DB10
  • Needless to say, it has a aerodynamic prone body, with sloppy roofline, gill-like curlicue on side fender and great body contour
  • Other features include- stretched out bold grille, new LED headlights, clamshell bonnet, sculpted taillight

Under the Hood -

  • Below the bonnet sits a 5.2L V12 monster that is big enough to generate 608 PS of maximum power along with a peak torque of 700 Nm.
  • Further justifying its 'most powerful DB tag' is its ability to cover 0 to 62 mph mark in 3.9 seconds after reaching the top speed of 200mph
  • The mill here is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox that offers drive modes like GT, Sport and Sport+
  • One important feature - Cylinder deactivation possible to reduce CO2 emission

Inside -

  • On the entertainment front it is present with an 8-inch screen controlled by a Mercedes-powered scroll wheel
  • Tech feature includes - 360-degree camera, auto-park assist and a Bang & Olufsen stereo
  • Wheelbase is said to be improved by 65mm ensuring spacious seating
