The BYD Tang DM-i’s arrival was confirmed thanks to a link posted by the Ayala-led wing of the Shenzhen-headquartered marque, urging its customers to sign up for “launch updates” and “exclusive test drive invites.”
LTO approval
Reinforcing the BYD Tang DM-i’s entry into the local new-energy vehicle segment is the homologation paper released by the Land Transportation Office (LTO), which approves its sale in the Philippines.
The specifications detailed in the paperwork reveal that the BYD Tang DM-i will be equipped with a four-cylinder, 1.5-liter engine with a maximum power output of 268 horsepower and a top speed of 200 kilometers per hour.
In a single charge, the Philippine-market BYD Tang DM-i — through its lithium-ion phosphate battery — can travel up to 110 kilometers.
The plug-in hybrid SUV has a charging time of three hours using an alternating current charging system and 22 minutes using a direct current charging system.
