Dongfeng Motors PH, Tara Global ink partnership

MANILA: Dongfeng Motors Philippines, a company under Legado Motors Incorporated, has formed a partnership with Tara Global Technology Incorporated, the company behind the recently introduced Tara ride-hailing smartphone application.

Through this relationship, Dongfeng’s local lineup of electric vehicles and Tara’s digital mobility platform have come together to make transport more accessible and sustainable for Filipinos. 

“As our nation faces rising fuel prices, TARA Ride-Hailing App and Dongfeng Motors Philippines stand together with one powerful mission: to make transportation affordable, sustainable, and profitable to anyone in the transport business,” Dongfeng Motors Philippines Vice President for Sales and Operations Giovanni Frias said. 

“We envision passengers paying less, drivers bringing home more, and operators earning sustainable daily income,” Frias added.

As the Philippines' automotive industry undergoes drastic changes over the years, Dongfeng Motors Philippines said it will continue to demonstrate how EV models can meet diverse transport needs. These range from filling roles as ride-hailing service cars and commercial-purpose vehicles to private passenger cars. 

For now, it was not made clear exactly how Dongfeng’s local arm will work with the Tara ride-hailing app. Do remember, however, it offers the E70 Pro all-electric sedan - a model that is already used by other transport providers in the local scene. 

Launched in 2025, the model is positioned as a relatively accessible mobility solution for modern drivers. It is also said to provide greater savings in operational and maintenance costs, especially when compared to similarly-sized internal combustion nameplates.  

As of this publication, the Dongfeng E70 Pro retails at P1.198 million. 

Dongfeng E70 Pro: specs

In the local market, the Dongfeng E70 Pro sedan uses a single-motor setup producing up to 161 horsepower and 230 Newton-meters of torque. It also has a range of 420 kilometers thanks to its 55.99 kilowatt-hour (kWh) ternary lithium battery.

Inside the five-seater sedan is a minimalist cockpit equipped with a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster and a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment display with third-party smartphone mirroring software.

• Six-way manual-adjust driver’s seat
