Ford Philippines teases 2019 Everest via an Instagram post
MANILA: Ford Philippines has gone a step forward and teased the 2019 Everest by posting an image of the same on their official Instagram page. However, this was indeed a very short teaser as the photo has been taken down soon (or was it a mistake).
The image of the 2019 Ford Everest did not have any revealing caption to throw any light on what to expect from the upcoming version. However, since the model in the image had a thin three-slat grille and 20-inch alloy wheels, we can be very much sure about its identity.
The new Everest was first introduced in Austraila followed by Thai launch with subtle changes on the outside and inside. The minor tweaks on the exterior include a new grille design, a more rugged bumper and newly designed 20-inch wheels. The top-of-the-line models have LED treatment on the front and rear.
The most noticeable change comes on the mechanism part. The company has replaced the old engine setup with new ones. The 2.2-litre motor has been replaced with a 2.0-litre EcoBlue TDCi while the bigger 3.2-litre unit has been replaced by a twin-turbo from the Raptor. The smaller engine makes a max power of 180 hp at 3,500 rpm while churning out a max torque of 420 Nm at 1,750 Nm.
On the other hand, the bigger twin-turbo motor can thrust out 213 hp of power at 3,750 rpm along with a peak torque of 500 Nm at 1,750 rpm. Both the engines come mated to a 10-speed automatic gearbox, albeit with a manual mode.
Since the Philippines market has the same engine setup as the old Thai version, same changes are expected to be incorporated here as well. However, we cannot be absolutely certain about it.
With the streak of teasers started, we can expect Ford Philippines lineup to include the new SUV soon. Prices are expected to change by a good margin if there is a lot of changes under the hood.
