Honda Prelude, WN7 electric motorcycle wins Red Dot honors

MANILA: The Honda Prelude and WN7 electric motorcycle, alongside the Uni-one and Miimo 1500i/2200i robots, were awarded Red Dot honors. 

Specifically, the two-door coupe and the Miimo robot were recognized with the Red Dot Design Award: Product Design award, while the new electric two-wheeler and Uni-one personal mobility device got the Red Dot: Best of the Best award. 

This marks the seventh time Honda Motor Company Limited has received nods from the prestigious organization consecutively. 

“Honda WN7 and UNI-ONE received the Red Dot: Best of the Best award and all-new Prelude and Miimo1500i/2200i received the Red Dot award in the Red Dot Design Award: Product Design, world-class design award,” Honda Research and Development Design Center Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer Toshinobu Minami was quoted as saying. 

“We are extremely honored to receive the Red Dot awards for seven consecutive years. We believe that these awards reflect the fact that many people can relate to the passion of Honda to further enhance mobility and ease of everyday activities to make people’s daily lives more fun and enjoyable. Honda will continue to create new values that surprise and inspire people and provide the joy of expanding their life’s potential,” he added.

Honda Prelude 

The all-new Honda Prelude is the company’s newest performance-oriented model, effectively replacing the Civic Type-R. 

Powered by a hybrid powertrain, it offers exciting driving pleasure while allowing would-be owners to reap the benefits of using an electrified powerplant. 

Boosting the enjoyment of driving is the Honda S+ Shift control technology, which has been adopted to realize direct drive response and a sharp gear shifting feel as if the vehicle features a stepped transmission system. 

Design-wise, the all-new Honda Prelude features a refined CMF (color, material, finish) that harmonizes with modern lifestyles. Meanwhile, it has a dedicated smartphone app, which offers a beautiful and intuitive user interface. 

The design — Honda Motor Company Limited pointed out — is intended not to disturb the peaceful moments and spaces of the customers. 

Of note, the all-new Honda Prelude made its Philippine debut at the Honda Fest held in Alabang last year.

Honda WN7 

Speaking of local debuts, the Honda WN7 made its first public appearance in the Philippines at the recently held Makina Moto Expo. 

The full-size electric naked bike was developed under the concept “Be the Wind” and uses an electric motor with a lithium-ion battery that makes for an efficient, sustainable, and responsive city bike. 

Helping tailor one’s experience atop the saddle are different riding modes, Selectable Speed Limit Assist, Selectable Deceleration Power levels, and low-speed forward and reverse assist functions. 

When it comes to its overall design, the Honda WN7 aims to “refine functionality and realize the essence of motorcycle design,” which is why it features seamless and smooth surfacing where it comes in contact with the rider. 

Meanwhile, elements combine a distinctive and powerful silhouette.
