Hongqi E-HS7, E-H7 gets Euro NCAP 5-star safety rating

MANILA: As shared by Hongqi Philippines, both the E-HS7 and the E-H7 have received five-star safety ratings from the European New Car Assessment Program (Euro NCAP). The two follow in the footsteps of the E-HS9, which received the same safety rating from the Europe-based vehicle testing organization. 

Per the brand, the aforementioned rating from the rigorous Euro NCAP is proof of its dedication to vehicle safety and making its owners (and their passengers) safe and protected. That goes on top of ensuring that their rides are stylish and oozing with comfort. 

“As faithful Hongqi owners know, the moment you step into a Hongqi vehicle, you immediately enter a world of luxury both inside and out. But feeling comfortable and looking great on the road mean nothing when a vehicle isn’t safe,” Hongqi Philippines and EVOXTerra President Rashid Delago said. 

“That’s why our ultimate priority has always been the protection of all passengers, drivers, and even pedestrians, whenever someone takes the wheels of an E-H7 or E-HS7,” Delgado added. 

As the marque's local arm shared further, the Euro NCAP's lineup of tests placed its two vehicles to the limit. The testing group’s regime consists of numerous durability tests, including a submersion test to determine how a particular model can resist flood damage. 

Other Euro NCAP tests cited by the brand include side impact tests, front and rear collision tests, as well as a drop test. To note, the drop test, per its name, determines the integrity of a vehicle’s shell by dropping a heavy weight on top of the car.

Hongqi E-HS7, E-H7 PH specs

Notably, the Hongqi E-HS7 and E-H7’s five-star Euro NCAP rating is mainly supported by their comprehensive safety kits. 

As standard, the two come with anti-lock braking, dual front airbags, front side airbags, front row head airbags, a driver’s seat middle airbags, a panoramic view camera, front and rear parking sensors, ISOFIX, stability control, and traction control - among others. 

The aforementioned are further reinforced by several advanced driver assist systems, which include, but are not limited to: 

• Adaptive cruise control
• Traffic sign recognition
• Frontal collision warning
• Lane departure warning
• Blind spot detection
• Lane change assist
• Rear collision warning
• Emergency steering assist
• Emergency lane-keep assist
• Pedestrian exterior warning sound
• Automatic emergency braking

Power-wise, the top-spec Hongqi E-HS7 Flagship variant uses an all-wheel-drive (AWD), dual-motor setup that can generate up to 610 horsepower and 756 Newton-meters of torque. The crossover also has an electric cruising range of up to 650 kilometers, according to the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP).

The Hongqi E-H7 sedan’s top-of-the-line Flagship variant, meanwhile, also has an AWD dual motor setup with a maximum output similar to its crossover sibling. Otherwise, it can cover up to 540 km according to the WLTP. 

Pricing for the Hongqi E-HS7 starts at P2.58 million, while the Hongqi E-H7 starts at P2.28 million.
