Hyundai launches refreshed Stargazer, Stargazer X at 2025 GIIAS

MANILA: Hyundai has introduced the facelifted versions of the Stargazer and Stargazer X at the 2025 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS). 

In the Indonesian market, the two models gained the additional “Cartenz” designation to highlight them as “Real Indonesian Cars.” The word Cartenz is a nod to the Puncak Carstensz Pyramid - the tallest mountain in Indonesia and Oceania. 

Going back to the vehicles, they sport a vastly different body shape compared to the pre-facelift model. The two also retained the same three-row seating configuration, while boasting loads of improvements in connection to safety.

Exterior

Appearance-wise, the updated Stargazer and Stargazer X received a more upright front fascia with a clearly distinct transition between its main body and its front end. The aforementioned was achieved by a large and flatter hood area combined with an angular front grille and front lower bumper. 

Just like before, the Stargazer, in particular, X received more in the way of angular details, namely a more prominent front bumper and a set of beefier black plastic claddings.

Towards the rear, the refreshed model features a larger, more rugged-looking bumper and a set of revamped LED taillights.

Depending on the variant, the Stargazer and Stargazer X come with the following exterior amenities: 

• 17-16-inch wheels
• LED headlamps
• LED daytime running lamps
• Power-folding side mirrors
• Rear spoiler (Stargazer X)
• Automatic headlamp functionality
• Roof rails

Interior 

Inside the updated Hyundai Stargazer and Stargazer X, a three-row layout with an eight-occupant capacity is featured, although seven-seater options with second-row captain seats are also available. 

Higher-spec trims of the two refreshed nameplates get artificial leather upholstery, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, automatic climate controls with rear vents, and ambient lighting. Driver-centric equipment inside the updated multi-purpose vehicles (MPV) also includes, but is not limited to, the following: 

• Leather steering wheel
• Tilt and telescopic steering column
• Paddle shifters
• Drive mode selector
• Push-to-start button
• Remote engine starting
• Electronic parking brake
• Driver seat ventilation
• 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster

Onboard entertainment for the refreshed Hyundai MPV nameplates is handled by a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen display with Bluelink, Bluetooth, and smartphone connectivity. The said display also received a new built-in navigation system.

 For topping up devices, both models get USB Type-C ports and a wireless smartphone charging pad. 

At default, the refreshed Hyundai Stargazer and Stargazer X offer a trunk space of 185 liters. With the second row folded down, the two models can hold up to 585 liters. 

Safety

For their basic safety kits, the updated Stargazer and Stargazer X launched for Indonesia carried over the same kit as their pre-facelifted versions. The two models’ SmartSense advanced-driver assist suite, however, received a new Smart cruise control feature with stop and go, as well as a lead vehicle departure warning system.

Other ADAS features present on the updated MPV nameplates include the following: 

• Blind spot collision avoidance assist
• Forward collision avoidance assist
• Lane following assist
• Lane keep assist
• Rear cross-traffic collision avoidance assist
• Blind spot monitoring
• 360-degree view camera
• High beam assist
• Driver attention warning

Powertrain

Under the hood of the updated Hyundai Stargazer and Stargazer X is the familiar 1.5-liter Smartstream G inline-4 gasoline engine. Like the versions currently available in the Philippines, these models can still produce 113 horsepower (hp) and 144 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque. 

Most trims of the Indo-spec Hyundai MPV models also get the brand’s Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT). But interestingly enough, the refreshed Indonesian market gets several variants with a six-speed manual gearbox - an option that is not available for the Philippine-spec Stargazer and Stargazer X.

Availability

In Indonesia, the updated Hyundai Stargazer and Stargazer X have a price ranging from IDR 269 million-IDR 391.9 million. At current exchange rates, that’s around P939,000-P1.363 million. 

For now, Hyundai Motor Philippines has yet to confirm whether it will introduce the updated MPV nameplates, but we anticipate that it is only a matter of time, given the relative popularity of these models in the local market. 

Additionally, Hyundai Motors Indonesia did disclose that the two refreshed models will be “exported to multiple international markets.”
