Nissan GT-R V-Spec to serve as Hot Wheels Convention Car

MANILA: A special Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec II will serve as the “convention car” for the upcoming Hot Wheels Collectors Convention this year.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What is the official convention car for this year's Hot Wheels Collectors Convention, and where can I see it?

The convention car is a special Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec II. Attendees can view a 1:1 full-scale real-world version featuring Ilocano geometric weaving-inspired details as the centerpiece of the two-day event at Okada Manila.
  • What activities, exclusive items, and special guests are featured at the event?

The free-entry convention features autograph sessions and a talk with Hot Wheels designer Brendon Vetuskey, contests (Diorama, Custom Car, and Hot Wheels Let’s Race Tournament), and automotive displays. Attendees can also purchase exclusive launches, including the 2026 Hot Wheels x 7-Eleven Limited Edition cars, Mattel Brick Shop Hot Wheels, and the Fast and Furious 25th Anniversary collection.
  • In a statement, Richprime Philippines shared that the high-performance model’s 1:1 scale version will be the centerpiece of the returning two-day event to be held at Okada Manila this weekend.

Inspired by Ilocano geometric weaving, the full-scale counterpart brings the collectible's details into the real world.

Locally, the closest model that the Philippines had was the GT-R that was introduced back in 2023. The nameplate was discontinued back in August 2025.

Powering this model is a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 engine that can deliver:

    Maximum output (in horsepower)

    562

    Peak torque (in Newton-meters)

    637

This power is sent to all four wheels (in an all-wheel-drive configuration with a rear mechanical limited-slip differential) via a six-speed dual-clutch transmission.

    Other event highlights

Set for its second consecutive year at Okada Manila, the Hot Wheels Collectors Convention is anticipated to once again bring together Filipino collectors, car enthusiasts, and families who want to experience Hot Wheels beyond the 1:64 scale.

Aside from the special Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec II’s full-size version, the free-entry convention—now on its second consecutive year—will feature exclusive releases, automotive displays, and competitions for collectors and families.

Guests will also have the chance to meet Hot Wheels Designer Brendon Vetuskey at the scheduled autograph sessions and a special designer talk.

Several exclusive launches will also be available at Okada Manila, including the 2026 Hot Wheels x 7-Eleven Limited Edition cars, Mattel Brick Shop Hot Wheels, and the Fast and Furious 25th Anniversary collection.

Additionally, the event will host a Diorama Contest, a Custom Car Contest, and a Hot Wheels Let’s Race Tournament.

Eventgoers can also check out automotive displays created by Decal Republic, exclusive merchandise, exhibitor showcases, and retail booths across the convention floor.

“The past two years have shown us just how passionate, creative, and deeply connected the Filipino Hot Wheels community is. This year, we took everything we learned from those experiences and challenged ourselves to unlock something bigger—not simply a larger event, but a more meaningful celebration of collecting, automotive culture, creativity, and community,” Richprime Global Incorporated (Hot Wheels Philippines) Head of Marketing John Michael Leabres was quoted as saying.

“Hot Wheels has always been more than just a toy. It represents creativity, design, automotive passion, and imagination. Seeing that spirit reflected in the growing community of Filipino collectors and car enthusiasts is what continues to inspire us to create experiences that bring people together,” he added.
