Porsche reveals 911 Carrera base models in coupe and cabriolet forms

MANILA: After eight months of revealing 2020 Porsche 911 Carrera S, the German marque has taken the wraps off the more 'basic' version of Carrera in coupe and cabriolet forms. The deliveries of the cars will start in early 2020.

The coupe and cabriolet versions of the 911 Carrera have some similarities with the more potent Carrera S. The 992 bumpers and body shape have been retained, which makes the car look similar to the Carrera S. Also, the exhausts are identical.

The main difference on the Coupe and Cabriolet is the wheel size. The front wheels measures 19-inch, while the rear ones are 20-inch. But, the 20/21-inch units of the Carrera S are also available as an option.

Moving to the powertrain, the 'base-model' 911 comes with a 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat-six cylinder engine, which is tuned to deliver less power output than its sibling. It pumps out a maximum power of 385 hp and a peak torque of 450 Nm.

The power is sent to the wheels via the brand's eight-speed PDK gearbox along with Sport Chrono package. Starting from 0, the car can hit the 94 kmph mark in just 3.8 seconds. The top speed of the coupe is 293 kmph, whereas the cabriolet can achieve a top speed of 290 kmph.

Suspension wise, both the models have Porsche Active Suspension Management just like the Carrera S.  The layout inside the cabin is identical to the powerful sibling. A 10.9-inch PCM infotainment system is present on the dash. Two LCD displays are provided on the edge of the central rev counter.

In the US market, the standard 911 Carrera coupe comes with a price tag of $ 98,750, which is equivalent to PHP 5,024,400. On the other hand, the cabriolet is priced at $ 111,550, which means PHP 5,676,000 in the local maker. However, the new 992 Carrera S is about to hit to the US market soon and the entry-level 911 Carrera will take time to arrive in the dealership.
