Porsche To Produce 718 Cayman For The First Time

MANILA: Here comes the news, which is travelling all the way from Germany and creating a craze wave. The 2017 Porsche 718 Cayman which was showcased at the 2016 Beijing International Automobile Exhibition held between 25th April and 4th May 2016 is all set to roll into the production line anytime soon. Indeed, the new 718 Cayman entering into the assembly unit is an amazing news but there is one more news which is making the elite German brand proud and confident. Now this stunner will not be produced at Osnabrück at the Volkswagen plant but instead, it will be produced at the Porsche headquarters in Zuffenhause. The 2-door sports car is a proud product of Porsche and Volkswagen was doing the part of the production for Porsche but, now Porsche has gathered enough resources to produce it in its manufacturing unit.

Before announcing the production at Zuffenhausen assembly unit, Porsche launched the new 911 in the year 2015 and the new 718 Boxster in spring 2016. Both of these models were produced at the Porsche Zuffenhausen unit only under the supervision of Porsche staff. So after double checking the capability of its staff and production unit, Porsche decided to take another step and produce the absolutely astonishing sports car Porsche 718 Cayman at this facility. Talking about the 2017 Porsche 718 Cayman, it boasts some tweaks in the styling along with a turbo change in the chunk beneath the hood. Yes, you heard it right. The new 718 Cayman will house a new turbocharged power unit. This is the first time when Roadster and Coupe will have the same engine power levels. The entry-level 2.0-litre engine is capable of delivering 300 hp of power while the sportier S trim will get the 2.5-litre engine to churn out 350 hp of peak power. With this, the new 718 Cayman S will be equipped with a 7-Speed PDK transmission along with optional Sports Chrono Package, which allows it to accelerate from naught to 100 kmph in just 4.2 seconds

Coming to the tweaks received by the new Porsche 718 Cayman, the front has received a revision with a new bumper allowing improved airflow. The interior trim has received its modifications inspired from the 918 hybrid supercar. Also, this sports car now comes with real-time traffic information, navigation facility with voice control, USB compatibility, Apple CarPlay and Connect Module with Porsche car Connect for the convenience of the occupants.

An authority from Porsche has revealed that as of now the daily production at the Zuffenhausen facility would be 220 cars per day which would be pumped up to 240 cars per day by August. The company has asked its dealers and distributors to start with the bookings for this 2017 model.
