SAIC Motor sells 3.647-M units globally in first 10 months of 2025

MANILA: SAIC Motor (Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation) has sold 3.647 million units worldwide in the first 10 months of 2025. Furthermore, it handed over a total of 454,000 units to customers worldwide in October 2025. 

The aforementioned sales figures, SAIC says, are indicative of its rapid growth. In fact, the company shared that its January-October 2025 sales are now 19.5 percent higher than the same period in 2024. 

To further break down its global January-October 2025 sales figure, SAIC disclosed that its self-owned brands, which include Maxus and Morris Garages (MG) Motor, saw a global cumulative sales of 2.35 million units in the said period. In October alone, SAIC’s self-owned brands managed to tally a global sales figure of 306,000 units. 

New Energy Vehicles leading the charge

SAIC’s global lineup of new energy vehicles (NEV) also saw the limelight as it reportedly hit “new heights” in the company’s sales report. 

In the first ten months of the year, the company’s global NEV sales reached 1.29 million units - a 42.5 percent rise year-on-year. In October 2025, specifically, the brand’s premium electric vehicle IM has sold 13,000 vehicles. Leading the charge for the said brand is the IM LS6, which is a range-extended vehicle with midsize to large variations. 

Here’s a list of NEV sales in October 2025 made by SAIC-owned brands: 

• SAIC Motor Passenger Car Company - 37,000 units
• Maxus - 6,500 units
• SAIC-GM - 12,000 units
• SAIC-GM-Wuling - 123,000 units

In European markets, SAIC shared that MG is its leading brand with over 250,000 units sold from January-October 2025. A large chunk of the said figure comes from Italy, where the marque sold 39,000 units in October 2025 alone. 

Notably, Switzerland also saw 20,000 units sold in October 2025, with the MG Hybrid+ series of cars gaining a strong foothold in the Central European nation.

MG PH updates

Meanwhile, in the local market, MG Motor Philippines, under the distributorship of SAIC Motors Philippines, has sold 7,578 units in the first ten months of the year. This comes from the most recent Philippine automotive sales report from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Incorporated (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA). 

As per the said report, MG’s local arm is in the ninth place ranking when it comes to year-to-date sales. 

Recently, MG Motor Philippines launched the next-generation HS Hybrid+. The said model starts at P1.398 million, and it is a follow-up to the AS23 first-generation model.

Under the hood of the all-new MG HS Hybrid+ is a 1.5-liter inline-four turbocharged gasoline mill capable of producing up to 220 horsepower (hp) and 340 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque. Paired with the engine is an electric motor, a 1.8-kilowatt-hour battery, and a two-speed dedicated hybrid transmission.

Back in October 2025, MG’s local arm likewise rolled out the all-new TRQ-L pickup truck. As of this writing, the ladder frame midsize unit retails for P1.198 million for the entry-level 4x2 manual transmission trim, and P1.318 million for the top-spec 4x2 automatic transmission variant. 

Powering the MG TRQ-L is a 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine capable of producing up to 158 hp and 400 Nm of torque.
