Shell, Nissan Formula E Team renew technical partnership
Collaboration allows for further development of better EV lubricants and fluids
MANILA: The Nissan Formula E Team and Shell have renewed their long-standing technical partnership to further develop bespoke fluids for on-track and on-road electric vehicles (EV).

Shell and the Nissan Formula E team initially started their technical partnership back in 2018.The partnership, which began in 2018, has resulted in the development and eventual deployment of Shell EV-Plus E-Transmission and E-Thermal fluids for the previous Formula E Seasons 11 and 12. The aforementioned line of EV fluids was also launched by the lubricants company back in 2019 for passenger vehicles.

The development of our Shell EV-Plus fluids has been driven by the extreme demands of Formula E, allowing us to innovate and deliver cutting-edge lubricant technology that enhances both on-track performance and the development of electrified mobility solutions for the road,” Akik added.
According to Nissan, the renewed technical collaboration between its Formula E team and Shell will further enhance research and development efforts to make EV fluids more efficient and sustainable.
The all-electric racing series, as pointed out by Aysus Akik, after all, is the perfect ground to test the latest advancements in lubricant solutions, where wheel-to-wheel racing pushes thermal management to its extreme limits.
Nissan Formula E Team: current standings
As of the 2024-2025 Formula E season, Nissan is one of the stronger teams on the grid. In fact, the Japanese marque’s Formula E team now stands in first place in the manufacturer’s standings with 303 points in total. Following in second place is Porsche with 299 points, and Stellantis in third with 215 points.
Nissan Formula E team’s Oliver Rowland is also vying for the championship title as he is currently leading the all-electric championship’s driver standings with 172 points. His teammate, Norman Nato, on the other hand, is currently in 19th place with 19 points.
