Should Honda introduce its new off-road mobile app to PH?
HTX mobile app now available in CR-V and other TrailSport-trimmed SUVs in US
MANILA: Honda launched its off-road oriented mobile application, which could benefit customers in the Philippines who enjoy spending time in the great outdoors.
KEY TAKEAWAYS
Can Honda CR-V owners in the Philippines currently download and use the HTX off-road app?
No, not at the moment. The HTX app s currently an exclusive release by American Honda for specific 2026 US-market model SUVs.What models in the US are compatible with the HTX app?
The app is compatible with the TrailSport trims of the CR-V, Passport, and Pilot.Called the Honda Trail Experience (HTX), the program is aimed at enhancing the off-road experiences of enthusiasts by providing essential real-time vehicle data and advanced video capabilities.
In a statement, American Honda Motor Company Incorporated shared those who would benefit from the app are owners of the CR-V, Pilot, and Passport in TrailSport variants.
According to the Japanese carmaker’s subsidiary in the United States, HTX is built intuitively to improve driver confidence, safety, and overall enjoyment during off-road excursions.
“With the launch of the Honda Trail Experience app, we’re empowering TrailSport owners to get more from every off-road journey — delivering real-time vehicle data, intuitive navigation tools, and seamless video sharing to help them drive with confidence and celebrate every adventure,” Honda Development and Manufacturing of America HTX Project Lead Omar Saleh was quoted as saying.

App features
Designed and engineered by members of the 2026 Honda Passport development team at the Honda North American Automotive Development Center, the HTX app helps the driver better navigate the terrain by feeding him or her with “critical vehicle information.”
The data—which can only be accessed by iPhone users—includes elevation, pitch, roll, brake pressure, throttle position, speed, engine temperature, outside temperature, tire angle, latitude, and longitude.
Photo from Honda United StatesBy synchronizing this information with Apple CarPlay, owners can source and log 11 critical data points directly from the vehicle.
While out on the trail, users can customize the clear, easy-to-read display by selecting up to six data points shown on the sport utility vehicle's (SUV) touchscreen display at any time.
Further, interactive maps and recorded data enable users to revisit their routes anytime.

According to Honda US, video capture is controlled from the vehicle touchscreen, enabling TrailSport owners the flexibility and creativity to mount their device anywhere on the SUV.
Smart devices running on Apple’s operating system can be affixed inside or outside the vehicle, or even be held by a spectator filming from anywhere within range for more dynamic footage.
The app — Honda US noted — also supports still photo capture for documenting key moments.
“Honda plans to continue expanding the feature set and capabilities of HTX with the help of its customers and the off-road community,” the company wrote in a press release.
HTX for PH market Honda CR-V?
Of the aforementioned nameplates, the only available model in the Philippines is the Honda CR-V.
And while we do not have a TrailSport-grade variant (which Honda Cars Philippines Incorporated should really consider importing), the range-topping 2.0 RS e:HEV AWD E-CVT trim — as the name implies — is likely the more compatible version equipped with this technology as it comes with an all-wheel-drive configuration.

On that note, localizing the HTX app could potentially improve the experience of Filipino enthusiasts who take their Honda CR-Vs off the beaten path.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, more and more Filipinos have joined the growing niche of overlanders and glampers, and such an app can bring the brand back into the conversation, which is now populated by a slew of Chinese marques who are more than eager to throw their vehicles into the fray.
