Zeekr X received 5-star safety rating from ASEAN NCAP

MANILA: The ASEAN New Car Assessment Program (ASEAN NCAP) has bestowed a five-star safety rating for the Zeekr X all-electric crossover. 

Notably, the model attained a perfect adult occupant protection (AOP) rating with a weighted score of 40 out of 40. At the same time, the Zeekr-made crossover also returned a perfect weighted score of 20 out of 20 for safety assist.

To note, the AOP category consists of the frontal offset deformable barrier (ODB) crash test, the side crash test, and the head protection technology evaluation. The safety assist category, meanwhile, assesses the effectiveness of a given vehicle’s advanced driver-assist systems. 

For child occupant protection and motorcyclist safety, the Zeekr X managed to gain weighted scores of 17.14 out of 20 and 17.50 out of 20, respectively. 

The said scores look good, especially for those considering the Zeekr X. Do note, however, that the ASEAN NCAP report indicated that its results are based on versions sold in Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand only, so these might differ from the Philippine-spec version.

As a consolation, the Zeekr X, regardless of market, should come with the same platform and chassis as the ones sold in those countries. The aforementioned, of course, could mean a similar capability to protect its occupants in the event of a crash. 

Zeekr X in PH

In the Philippine market, the Zeekr X has a price ranging from P2.6 million-P3 million. 

The top-spec variant sold locally is the Zeekr X Priviledge all-wheel-drive (AWD) trim, which uses two electric motors that can output a total of 422 horsepower and up to 543 Newton-meters of torque.

Concerning range, the model can travel up to 425 kilometers from a single full charge, according to the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Cycle. It also has 22 kilowatt (kW)  alternating current (AC) and a 200 kW direct current (DC) charging capacity. With its DC charging feature, the Zeekr X’s state-of-charge can be topped up from 10-80 percent in around 30 minutes.
