Zigwheels PH weekly wrap: November 24-28, 2025

MANILA: The global and local automotive industry marches on in the last week of November 2025. In the said period, however, the Philippine market did not see a car launch, but plenty of developments, such as dealership openings, happened nonetheless. 

On the other hand, the global stage saw the introduction of the updated popular multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) nameplate, as well as the return of a familiar sedan model to the Chinese market. A number of new dealerships have also opened in various locations in the Philippines. 

A lot has happened from November 24-28, 2025, so without further ado, here’s Zigwheels Philippines’ weekly wrap. 

Global car launches

Toyota Veloz Hybrid

Toyota has introduced the hybrid version of the Veloz MPV in Indonesia. It was launched at the 2025 Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week (GJAW), and it uses a 1.5-liter gasoline hybrid mill. To note, this powertrain is the same one found on the Toyota Ativ. 

Style-wise, the new electrified model looks identical to its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart.

Dongfeng Nissan Teana

Dongfeng Nissan has rolled out the Teana midsize sedan in China. If the name sounds familiar, it was once sold in the Philippine market under the same name but was discontinued back in 2021. 

Propelling this model is a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine capable of producing up to 239 horsepower (hp) and 371 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque. It also has a lot of on-board technologies, the most notable of which is the Huawei HarmonySpace 5.0 cockpit software.

Upcoming vehicles PH

Yamaha XMax Tech Max

Yamaha Motor Philippines (YMPH) could be bringing in the XMax Tech Max for the local market soon. The company hasn’t disclosed a launch date for the model yet, but the Land Transportation Office (LTO) has already published the homologation papers for the XMax Tech Max.

Global automotive industry updates

In the last week of November 2025, VinFast showcased the VF Wild concept car at the GJAW 2025. At the same time, the Vietnamese carmaker also previewed the seven-seater Limo Green MPV. 

Suzuki Motor Corporation is now using biodegradable plastic for shipping its spare parts. The aforementioned was accomplished thanks to the carmaker’s partnership with P-Life Japan Incorporated. 

The Hyundai Staria was selected as the official transport vehicle for the 2025 G20 Leaders’ Summit in South Africa. The said model was chosen for its generously spaced interior cabin, its array of safety equipment, and its versatility. 

Isuzu has started to run its public demonstration for its level four autonomous driving truck. Specifically, one self-driving Giga will be running between the manufacturer’s Iwafune Parts Center in Tochigi and the Chubu Parts Center in Aichi starting in January 2026. 

SAIC Motor (Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation) has sold 3.647 million units worldwide in the first 10 months of 2025. In October 2025 alone, the company reported that it had sold 454,000 worldwide. 

Bentley also unveiled its first-ever bespoke digital product, specifically a light projection system by Mulliner for the Batur. 

BMW also hinted at the end of the Z4’s production run in Q1 2026 with the release of the said model’s “Final Edition” variant. 

The 2025 Thailand Car of the Year is the Mitsubishi XForce Hybrid. It is the first time for the Japanese car brand to receive such recognition in the Land of Smiles. 

Land Rover has unveiled the Defender Dakar D7X-R ahead of its January 2026 debut. The model is set to compete in the Dakar Rally next year as a part of the brand’s 2026 World Rally-Raid Championship campaign. 

Local industry updates

Suzuki Philippines Incorporated has broken ground for its upcoming dealership in Lucena, Quezon province. The said facility will be a 3S (sales, service, and spare parts) establishment owned and operated by Sakura Autoworld Incorporated. 

Ford Philippines is celebrating the 1st Anniversary of the Ranger Raptor V6 in the Philippines. Currently, the model has 1,000 owners in the country. 

The Philippine delegation for the 2025 Toyota Gazoo Racing Asia eSports GT Championship has finished the said competition in fourth place. The three-driver team consists of Enzo Ison, Matthew Ang, and Victor Ancheta. 

Former ACMobility-managed Honda dealerships are now under Gateway and Borromeo Motoring Group. Also, Honda Cars Philippines Incorporated will be establishing a new subsidiary to operate Honda Cars Shaw. 

In the fourth week of November 2025, Tesla Philippines had hit a sales figure of over 2,100 units for the first ten months of 2025. The aforementioned is based on a report from the Philippine Automotive Dealers Association. 

Toyota Motor Philippines, together with the Federal Land Incorporated, has opened the Tamaraw Food Park. The said location perfectly highlights the capabilities of the Tamraw Food Truck as a platform for food and drink businesses. 

ACMobility has opened its latest charging station in Lucena City. It has two 120-kilowatt (kW) direct current fast chargers and a single 22-kW AC type charger. 

YSS Automotive Suspension has officially entered the Philippine market with two products: the balanced DTG-Plus, and the more hardcore XSport. The suspension brand is distributed locally by Gyzmo Global Business Corporation. 

As of the fourth week of November 2025, the Isuzu Heart and Smile Project is now 17 years old. It has been around for 17 years and has supported 24 batches of scholars. 

Subaru also held its local Technician Skills Competition, with delegates from Iloilo and Greenhills dealerships securing the win. 

Honda Foundation Incorporated has mobilized to provide drinking water to 1,680 families in Liloan, Cebu, who were negatively affected by Typhoon Tino.
