PIMS 2026 delivered the hottest launches of the year
MANILA: The first week of June proved to be an eventful welcome for the month, despite many brands withholding their respective model launches and previews for the 10th edition of the Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), which kicked off last Thursday.

Local launches at PIMS 2026
PIMS 2026 proved to be a conducive space for showcasing some of the most exciting models to come out this year.
The barrage of launches that happened at the four-day auto expo was headlined by none other than the leading car brand in the country, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP).
Launched by the Japanese carmaker’s local subsidiary were the all-new Land Cruiser FJ, all-new Hilux, and new Land Cruiser HEV.
On the other hand, fellow Japanese brands Suzuki, Subaru, and Nissan also rolled out their respective electrified models for 2026.
For the star-studded (Pleiades constellation) Subaru brand, it launched the Crosstrek e-Boxer Hybrid. Meanwhile, the small car specialist unleashed the Suzuki e-Vitara. Finally, Nissan rolled out the all-new X-Trail e-Power.
Also bringing out its newest is Morris Garages (MG) Philippines by bringing out a trio of models in the form of the RX9 PHEV (plug-in hybrid electric vehicle), MG4 Urban, and HS PHEV.
Lastly, Jaecoo Philippines unboxed the J5 EV at PIMS 2026.
PIMS previews
Aside from the aforementioned launches, some brands were eager to showcase models lined up for future releases.
Isuzu Philippines Corporation teased the latest iteration of the D-Max pickup truck, while Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation previewed the new Outlander PHEV ahead of its August launch.
Further, Chery Auto Philippines gave a sneak preview of the all-new Chery QEV Smart EV Cruiser, while Geely Motor Philippines made an appearance with the upcoming EX2.

In other news, TMP staged a groundbreaking ceremony for its soon-to-open service center in Palo, Leyte.
Additionally, Jetour Auto Philippines posted a 177-percent growth in retail sales for 2026.
Globally, other brands made quite the buzz, too.
Meanwhile, Toyota debuted the “GRMN” (Meister of the Nürburgring) version of the GR Corolla.
VinFast tapped Autobrains and NVIDIA to make autonomous driving more accessible to the Southeast Asian market, and BMW marked the 30th anniversary of the M3 E30 by collaborating with Lego.
