2016 Chevrolet Sail Launched- All you Need to Know

MANILA: Chevrolet at this year's Manila International Auto Show showcased its B-segment sedan Sail to the Philippines audience. The car was basically developed for the Chinese market and after seeing growing market for the compact sedan the brand decided to launch its said warrier here in the Philippines as well. At the time of its showcasing at 2016 MIAS, detailed information about its specs at all ends was limited. But now, nearing its launch, Chevrolet is discussing all its attributes out in the open.

In the following segments, we have opened up all-new Sail for you. Giving you all information about its interior, exterior, engine and Sail price.

Exterior -

1. Upfront the 2016 Sail holds Chevrolet's signature two-port grille that houses company's logo in the centre. The said grille ends at a point where it is continued by a sharp pair of halogen headlights. Underneath, Sail gets a parallelogram shaped fog lamp case and sleek air dams.

2. On to the side, this B-segment sedan showcases fender integrated side indicators, body colored door handles, and gunmetal finish 16-inch alloy wheels.

3. The rear end gets wraparound taillights, pinched boot lid, and loud Sail badging on the bumper.

4. Restricted specifically for the LTZ variant, Sail comes integrated with a power sunroof (a rear possession for a B-segment sedan).

Interior -

1. Sail is blessed with an airy cabin with appropriate legroom and headroom dimensions.

2. The centre console gets a 9-inch color display that comes paired with connectivity features like Bluetooth, smartphone mirroring, and natural voice recognition.

3, Further enhancing its pairing capabilities are present built-in applications like Spotify and Waze. If you are an android user, the car also offers the option of Google Play Store connectivity.

4. Taking full care of driver's comfort and convenience, Sail offers a control mounted three-spoke steering wheel, power and USB outlet.

Engine -

1. Sail is offered in two under hood options - one is the smaller 1.3-litre and other is the bigger 1.5-litre mill.

2. The 1.3-liter mill is paired with a five-speed manual transmission and produces 100 PS/127 Nm.

3. The larger engine on the other hand is coupled to a four-speed automatic with manual mode gear box. As for power and torque figures, it generates 109 PS of power and 141 Nm of torque.

Safety -

1. First thing first, stronger the built, safer will be the car. On this front, Sail is no less and gets a high-tensile steel body.

2. As for the passive and active safety gears, it gets the driver and passenger airbag, ISOFIX, Anti-lock Braking System and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution.

Sail Price and Variants -

1. Chevrolet Sail is offered in three variants, one with 1.3-litre and the other two with 1.5-litre mill.

2. The base model 1.3-litre MT LT is offered at PhP 713,888, while the mid variant 1.5-litre AT LT price tag reads PhP 768,888. Lastly, the top trim, 1.5-litre AT LTZ will cost you PhP 858,888.
