2017 Honda CR-V diesel details revealed

MANILA: After introducing the fifth generation CR-V a few days back, Honda has now released the details of 2017 Honda CR-V diesel version. The details are specifically for the ASEAN markets and for the first time, CR-V will be offered with a diesel mill. It is expected that the 2017 Honda CR-V will be soon revealed in Thailand. According to reports, the 2017 CR-V will now feature 7 seat layout.

 

Considering the styling of the updated CR-V, it features a more angular and modern look than the existing version. The overall design of the upcoming CR-V is in line with the recently revealed models of Honda. This is the first time that Honda CR-V will get an automatic shutter grille tech which will lower the aerodynamic drag in an effective manner. In the cabin, the new equipment includes a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The cabin layout has been also refreshed and the CR-V now features soft-touch material that overall improves the premium feel.

The fifth-generation CR-V is 41mm longer than the existing version which results in a 53mm improved rear legroom. Even the cargo space is improved and now features 1104.36-litre. The other features of the new CR-V include remote engine start, second row USB charging ports, four-way power adjustable front passenger seat and an eight-way power adjustable driver’s seat.

Under the hood, the 2017 CR-V will be offered with two engine options. The first is 2.4-litre i-VTEC petrol motor which is carried forward from the existing model. Whereas, the other addition is a 1.6-litre i-DTEC mill which delivers 158 hp maximum power at 4,000 rpm and 350 Nm peak torque at 2,000 rpm. The diesel mill is coupled to an all-new ZF nine-speed automatic gearbox. The option of AWD setup is offered with both the engine options.

After updated Honda City, Honda CR-V will be the next awaited model in Thailand. Currently, the Honda CR-V is priced at Php 1.33 million and the updated version is expected to be priced around the same price range.  The 2017 Honda CR-V will be locking horns against Toyota Fortuner, Ford Everest, Isuzu mu-X and Chevrolet Trailblazer.
