2018 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado launched in the Philippines

MANILA: After its global debut at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show, the updated Land Cruiser Prado has finally made its way to the local market. Although there are subtle changes in the styling, the manufacturer has done some major upgradations on the mechanical front. The front resembles its elder sibling, the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 while the headlights have received a mild restyling with new LED projector lights. The hood and front bumper now feature added power bulge to give the updated SUV a bolder touch.

The side profile is not changed much and carry the same characteristics as the outgoing model. However, to match the current trend of introducing updated wheel design, 2018 Land Cruiser has been bestowed with a new set of wheels. The rear end has received a new set of tail lights with integrated LED lights and a unique light signature and ‘aero fins’.

The cabin gets a new panel, trim inserts, redesigned steering wheel and gear shifter. The center console is slightly positioned lower with a new set of trimmed air vents. There is also a slight re-arrangement of controls and you can find the automatic climate control now infused in the dashboard. The rest of the design is kept unchanged.

Under the hood, the local market will continue to get a 3.0-litre 1KD-FTV diesel engine that has the potential to deliver a maximum power of 163 PS and mated to either a 5-speed automatic or a  6-speed manual transmission. There is also a 4.0-litre petrol unit that delivers a maximum power output of 275 PS and mated to a 5-speed automatic transmission. However, the global market has an additional option of a 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine that is also a part of the Fortuner and Hilux lineup.
