Here’s what you need to know with the all-new Toyota RAV4

MANILA: After being publicly displayed twice, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has officially shared the details for the all-new RAV4.

Returning for the fifth generation, the popular crossover brought back the all-wheel-drive system that made it popular during its inception in the 90s. 

The aforementioned is available in two variants namely Adventure (ADV) Limited (LTD) — with their prices kept at sub P2.5 million.

Here’s what buyers of the all-new Toyota RAV4 will get to enjoy.

Vehicle specifications 

Powertrain

Powering the all-new Toyota RAV4 is 16-valve double overhead cam, inline four cylinder 2.5-liter gasoline fed engine with hybrid technology (25A-FXS) that can dish out churns as high as:

This mill is mated to an electronic continuously variable transmission (e-CVT) that has either mechanical or shift-by-wire shifters — depending on the trim chosen. As mentioned early, it runs in all-wheel-drive fashion as it is slapped with the Toyota EFour system. 

Aside from the modern gearbox, the all-new Toyota RAV4 features a 55-liter tank and a lithium-ion battery. It also boasts six drive modes namely Eco, Sport, Normal, Custom, Snow, and Trail.

Assuring the vehicle’s stability controllability are its suspension system made up of MacPherson Struts  at the front and the Multi-Link type for the rear as well as disc brakes (ventilated at the fore and solid at the back) on all four wheels. 

Exterior

In terms of aesthetics, the all-new RAV4’s appearance varies on the trim. The ADV variant poses a rugged look with its beefy fascia, and the abundance of black plastic claddings all around (moustache that holds the company emblem, large grille, wheel arch moldings, and bridge-type roof rails). Meanwhile the LTD has a mesh grille with accents and body colored bumpers. 

These vehicles sit on differing wheel and tire sizes: 20-inch shod in 235/50 (LTD) or 18-inch with 235/60 (ADV). 

Also the higher-spec has a panoramic moonroof while the lower trim has the tilt-and-slide type. 

Interior

Inside, the all-new Toyota RAV4 is equipped with an eight-way power-adjustable driver seats (optional six-way electronically-movable for front passenger) with seat ventilation, dual digital screens (12.9-inch infotainment system and 12.3-inch thin film transistor for its cluster gauge) with wireless connectivity options, and a nine-speaker JBL audio setup.

Other notable amenities that can be found in the vehicle are:

• Tilt/telescopic adjustable, multi-function electronic power steering wheel
• Keyless entry and push start
• Head-up display for the LTD option
• Electronic parking brake with electronic hold function 

Moreover, mobile devices can be juiced up using the numerous ports (USB Type C and 12-volt) all around as well as one or two wireless charging docks (depending on the variation).

Safety, driver assistive tech

Lastly, the all-new Toyota RAV4 has the expansive suite of Toyota Safety Sense technologies namely:

• Pre-collision system
• Automatic and adaptive high beam
• Lane trace assist
• Lane departure warning
• Dynamic Radar Cruise Control

Other standard safety features that are included in the vehicle are the anti-lock braking system, vehicle stability assist, hill start assist and hill descent control, blind spot monitoring, safe exit assist, and intelligent parking assist.
