High-mileage Changan CS35 Plus nets 21kpl in AAP eco-run

MANILA: The Changan CS35 Plus  yielded a fuel consumption of 21.432kpl (highway) and 13.548kpl (city) in the recent economy test runs conducted by the Automobile Association Philippines (AAP). 

Changan Motor Philippines, Inc. (CMPI) said that the CS35 unit used in the test carried 107,000 kilometers on its odometer. The CS35 Plus variant was the next Changan model tested by AAP after the Alsvin, which netted 22kpl.

CMPI described that for the highway test run, the CS35 was driven back and forth on the following route: Shell Balagtas in NLEX Northbound, SCTEX Tarlac Terminus, Shell of Asia Bulacan, NLEX, Clark Spur Road, and SCTEX. 

The crossover logged in a total of 180.652 kilometers while it ran at speeds between 60 to 85kph, CMPI said. 

To test the urban fuel consumption, AAP then drove the CS35 from Makati, Pasay City, Manila, and Quezon City, and vice versa for a total distance of 90.8 km. 

Both the highway and city test runs for the CS35 Plus were done under realistic driving conditions with the following parameters set, CMPI added.

The vehicle's fuel tank was filled to the brim, all OEM equipment was present: tire pressure was set to OEM specifications; the air-conditioning temperature was set to medium cool; and the radio was either not used, on low volume, or on mute. Only two passengers were on board, and the car was driven to comply with speed limits and traffic regulations.

The CS35 Plus boasts a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine that's designed for more air intake, which creates a more efficient combustion and increased power and torque output while lessening fuel consumption, the manufacturer said.

Meanwhile, fast shifting and the convenience of an automatic vehicle with the sportiness of a manual is provided by the seven-speed dual clutch transmission. 

For safety, the CS35 Plus' Electronic Stability Control, Blind Spot Camera, Reverse Camera, Hill Hold Control, and Reverse Parking Sensors, are on the ready.
