How different will be the new 2019 Ford Everest?

MANILA: In December 2018, Ford Philippines teased the Filipinos with the 2019 model of Everest. However, it has been over four months now since the tease and we still don’t see any glimpses of the next-generation Everest in the country.

We sincerely wished Ford to display the 2019 Everest at the 2019 Manila International Auto Show, but to our disappointment, Ford had other plans. So, what makes the next-generation of the SUV so desirable? Well, first and foremost, it is the 2.0-litre bi-turbo motor that we await eagerly. As a matter of fact, it is the same mill that power’s the Raptor.

Let’s start with aesthetic changes. While the updates given to the 2019 Ford Everest on the outside are minimal, they do their job well and bring a breath of fresh air. Changes include a new chrome grille that houses in a revamped bumper. The LED headlamps and taillights also get a mild design update while most of the exterior is more or less the same.

On the inside of the 2019 Ford Everest, the things aren’t changed too much either. We would certainly like to mention that the interior on the Everest is, kind of dated and might not appeal to everyone. While it gets all the basic required amenities, there is a significant lack of charm. This may lead to some customer drifting towards its competitors. Some updates that the SUV receive on the inside include a gear shift-mounted manual shift override,

panoramic sunroof, one-touch power window, smart key with a push-button engine start & stop, foot-activated power tailgate, and a power folding third row.

As mentioned earlier, the most awaited update is under the hood. We all SUV enthusiasts are eagerly waiting to experience the bi-turbo motor inside the 2019 Ford Everest. In Thailand, where the next-gen Everest is already available, the SUV features a 2.0-litre EcoBlue TDCi 4-cylinder engine that makes 183 PS of maximum power at 3,500 rpm and 420 Nm of peak torque at 1,750 rpm.

Then there is the highly anticipated mill, a bi-turbo 2.0-litre engine that churns out 216 PS at 3,750 rpm and 500 Nm at as low as 1,750 rpm. A ten-speed automatic transmission takes care of the power delivery to the wheels irrespective of the engine.

In the Philippines, however, we expect Ford to house the bi-turbo mill in top-of-the-line variants only. With Ford comes safety, and the 2019 Everest won’t be any different. The SUV is very likely to offer safety features like Autonomous Emergency Braking along with seven SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, Rollover Mitigation, Active Park Assist, Auto High Beam Control, Driver Alert System, Blind Spot Information System,

Tire Pressure Monitoring, and Front + Rear Parking Sensors with a rear camera. We believe we have waited for long enough and urge Ford to bring the 2019 Everest on the Filipino shores sooner than later.
