Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross details revealed ahead Geneva Auto Show 2017

MANILA: A few days back we informed you that Mitsubishi will be revealing its new crossover at the Geneva Auto Show 2017. But, much to our surprise, the Japanese automaker has revealed its much-anticipated car before the show. Yes, the details of Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross are officially released.

Just like the concept, the Eclipse Cross features the brand’s new signature Dynamic Shield at the front.  This is further accompanied by angular headlights and large fog lights which are integrated at the corners of the dynamic bumper. The side profile gets bold shoulder line, which accentuates the overall design in an effective manner. To add to the styling details, the crossover also gets door mounted side mirrors. To further set apart this crossover from its competitors, it gets truncated rear gate, short overhang and forward raked rear windows.

The sporty character is well carried in the cabin as well and the chrome finishing further improves the overall layout in a significant manner. The Eclipse Cross features the brand’s new infotainment system, which is a tablet-like multimedia screen standing at the center and features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. To control this system, a touch pad is mounted which is not seen often in the respective segment. In addition to this, there is also an option of heads-up display.

Under the hood, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross will be offered with two engine options. The first is a 1.5-litre direct injection turbocharged engine which is paired to either a six-speed manual or a CVT gearbox with eight-speed Sport Mode. The second option will be a 2.2-litre common rail direct-injection turbocharged diesel engine. This engine is further coupled to a new 8-speed automatic transmission. The power figures of both the engines are not released yet by the manufacturer and we expect that it will be released at the Geneva Auto Show. Just like its competitors, the Mitsubishi Eclipse will be also available in two options - FWD and AWD. The AWD system of the crossover uses an electronically-controlled unit which is further supported by Super All-Wheel Control. There is no information about its launch in the Philippines yet but, we hope to see this new offering in our country by next year.
