Beefier, bolder 2020 Nissan Navara unveiled in Australia

MANILA: Australians are getting first dibs on the the 2020 Nissan Navara that now comes with new exterior enhancements and features that greatly lower levels of noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH).

Sporting some of the features of the "Black Edition," sans the orange highlights, launched locally last year, it will come with the same glossy black trim over the blacked-out V-Motion grille, black foglamp housings, black side mirrors, smoked LED headlamps with daytime running lamps, and black-on-silver 18-inch alloy wheels.

But new to this pickup truck is a muscular black sports bar over the bed and more importantly, features that improve its sound-deadening qualities.

An acoustic windscreen has now been installed to reduce wind and road noise entering the cabin when you go on those wild off-road runs and the hood receives treatment that will greatly lower engine noise. Along the center console, firewall, and transmission tunnel is a new sound-absorbing material that further reduces clatter from below.

Other updates include an eight-inch color touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the automaker's suite of advanced safety systems called Nissan Intelligent Mobility (NIM), which includes Hill Start Assist, Around View Monitor, Hill Descent Control (trim-dependent).

Standard in the 2020 Navara are seven airbags (front, side, curtain and a driver's knee airbag). Automatic headlights with daytime running lights (DRLs) are also standard, an LED high-mounted brake light, vehicle dynamic control (VDC) with brake limited slip differential (BLSD), anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), traction control system (TCS) and brake assist (BA).

Along with the addition of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 3.5-ton towing capability, class-leading fuel efficiency and a powerful diesel engine backed by Nissan's five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty, these updates ensure the 2020 Navara remains at the top of its game," said Nissan Australia managing director Stephen Lester.
