Own 30th Anniversary Mazda MX-5 at PHP 3 million

MANILA: Back in 2014, the Japanese marque Mazda had celebrated the 25th anniversary of its popular MX-5 by launching a 25th Anniversary edition of the car’s third-generation models. Extending the same string, now the company has announced a 30th Anniversary limited edition of MX-5 to commemorate the global premiere of the coaster, which took place at the Chicago Auto Show in 1989.

If you can recall, Mazda sold only 25 units of the 25th Anniversary edition models in the Philippines. It is continuing the number game even this time. Mazda Philippines has decided to sell 30 units of the new edition in our island and 3,000 units globally.  Also, as one can expect, the new limited editions are the fourth generation models of MX-5. 

The 30th Anniversary MX-5, far from being a stratagem, is a highly practical car. It schleps a number of upgrades and exclusive features that makes it almost an entirely different trim from the standard MX-5. To start with, this model will be available only in Racing Orange colour, which we can consider a tribute to the car that won for the company at the 1991 24 Hours of Le Mans. The colour theme also impinges inside furnish a few highlights on the dash and the Recaro seats. Premium modules such as Alcantara upholstery and a 9-speaker Bose sound system are also included for comfort and entertainment. 

The Racing Orange is more than a colour theme. If inspected closely, one would find that the colour also engulfs both the front and rear brakes, which are made by Brembo and Nissin, respectively. The brakes are housed under glossy 10-spoke forged aluminium wheels that have ‘30TH ANNIVERSARY’ badging.

Under the hood, it equips a 2.0-litre SkyActiv-G engine that churns out a maximum power of 184 PS. The power is transferred to the rear wheels via either a 6-speed manual or automatic gearbox. Moreover, the 6-MT version will get Bilstein dampers and both the transmission variants will be retailed at PHP 2,990,000.
