Thai Roads to get more sporty with Toyota Yaris TRD Sportivo

MANILA: With just a finger countable days left for the 37th Bangkok International Motor Show, the whole world has glued their eyes to day-to-day updates of the show. Toyota Motors has come up with the refreshed B-segment hatchback, Toyota Yaris TRD Sportivo which will make its public debut at the Bangkok Motor Show 2016, while its sibling Vios 2016 might be revealed in the MIAS 2016. All other prominent automakers from all around the world are gearing up to participate in the show with their latest attractive drives, hi-tech features and advanced innovations to attract many visitors, as well as do a record breaking sales in this year motor show.

Locals of the country are in a treat with the introduction of additional features both inside and outside along with some appearance enrichments exhibiting a sleeker exterior with aerodynamic elements. Talking about its front fascia, the beard type silver grille is now replaced with the black grille and the body-painted lip spoiler is now finished in silver which is carried over to the side skirts and roof rails also to give a more sporty persona. The black element of grille flows to the new wheel arches and mudguard which encloses new TRD black alloy wheels. Rear fascia has remained unchanged except for the addition of silver rear lip spoiler along with the new TRD Sportivo badge.

Blacked-out trims were not restricted to exterior only, inside of the hatchback is enveloped in tint of black and orange including leather plush seats, door panels and even the floor mats with TRD Sportivo badging. This sporty five-door hatchback is high on functionality and practicality with height-adjustable driver seat, driver-centric steering-mounted controls and split folding 60:40 rear seats. To give the Yaris a complete feel of TRD SPortivo, the basic six-speaker Entune Audio system has also been replaced by the 2-DIN seven-inch touchscreen system with all kinds of inputs.

The only thing that has been retained in the TRD Sportivo Yaris is its powertrain. The new sporty Yaris is packed with the same 1.2-litre 3NR-FE four-cylinder engine but now equipped with the Toyota Dual VVT-i technology. The petrol mill is capable of producing a total output of 86 PS and 108 Nm which is very impressive for a hatchback. The mill is compatible with E85 oil and mated to the super CVT-i auto transmission instead of the traditional four-speeder making the engine more fuel efficient.

Earlier also, Toyota has impressed its fans across the globe and has also excel in the eco-friendly segment with the two new Toyota Yaris Hybrid and Toyota Yaris Hybrid sports along with the Toyota Prius. Now it would be interesting to see how fans perceive the new sporty hatchback which is up for grab at the price of PhP 779384.43 while for the extra TRD Sportivo bits, the buyer has to spend extra PhP 85265.99.
