The Legendary Shelby Mustang GT-H Makes a Limited-Edition Return

MANILA: You’re not really an auto-geek if you do not remember the iconic muscle car Ford Mustang and its Shelby variants that also spawned the marvelous Cobra in 1967. To celebrate 50 years of their GT-H fleet of high performance vehicles, the pioneering American automobile manufacturers Ford has decided to thrill the attendants with the Shelby Mustang GT-H at the upcoming New York Auto Show. The new vehicles combines the classic looks of the Mustang muscle car whose performance has been enhanced through a combination of Shelby and GT-H upgrades. Being famous as the original Rent-A-Racer, the new vehicle will also be made available for rent courtesy of Hertz Corporation’s rent your dream car program.

The biggest turn of events however, is the availability of only 140 units for the 2016 GT-H that will not settle well with its fans. Regardless of the geeks being upset, the limited number of units for the new Mustang will certainly make it even more special and rare than its predecessors. The drivetrains remains the same 5.0-litre Coyote V8 engine but is reported to be tuned by the engineers at Ford to provide higher outputs. The exteriors however, have been largely refreshed with custom front hood, a brand new splitter and a stylish looking rear spoiler. The exhaust pipes have also been changed along with the addition of a sports handling package that gives enhanced control over the raw power generated by its V8 power-train.

Unfortunately, these units for the Shelby Mustang GT-H won’t even go on sale and will be made available exclusively for Hertz Adrenaline Collection. The vehicle will only be available on rent, but that isn’t necessarily a bad thing as you don’t have to own this vehicle to sit behind its wheel. Although the Filipino fans don’t really get to try this vehicle in their homeland, there’s no doubt about the new GT-H’s iconic status across the globe.
