The new Mitsubishi L200 Trojan is the Strada’s best bud
MANILA: Mitsubishi just released a new pickup truck in the UK—the new Mitsubishi Trojan as part of its L200 Series 6 pickup truck range being offered in the UK. The L200 line is the same as Thailand’s version but is known locally to us as Strada. In Japan, the same pickup carries the Forte nameplate.
Unlike the Mitsubishi Strada, the L200 Trojan is a lot curvier and is available only in double cab size and all-wheel-drive system. This Mitsubishi pickup is powered by a 2.2 -liter MIVEC 16-Valve inter-cooled turbocharged DOHC Common Rail Di-D high power engine capable of delivering 150 hp of power at 3,500 rpm and peak torque of 400 Nm at 2,000 rpm. The engine is mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The exterior of the L200 Trojan sports the iconic Dynamic Shield grille flanked with halogen headlights at the top and fog lights at the bottom for functionality. Another cool external feature of this vehicle is the heated electric door mirror which ensures that they stay clear on all types of weather. The pickup rides in a set of 18” alloy wheels to complete its rugged look.
The L200 Trojan cabin is designed for comfort and driving pleasure. It has double-stitched leather seats and leather trims that minimizes the plasticky feel. The dashboard looks like that of the SUV with its instrument cluster seamlessly connecting to its centre console, all within an easy reach. There are also lots of USB charging ports, phone trays—both at the front and back, and cup holders will keep your stuff organized, prevent spills, and your pick up looking less uncluttered.
And since the Mitsubishi L200 is built though for the off-road, expect it to have the necessary safety and driver-assist feature to make the vehicle more responsive. For one, the cabin is built around a Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) body. This means that reinforcements are placed at strategic points to help transfer and absorb energy in the event of a collision. Safety systems such as 7 SRS airbag system, automatic high beam (AHB), trailer stability assist (TSA), hill start assist (HSA), lane departure warning (LDW), 360 degrees camera, blind-spot warning system (BSW), and ultrasonic misacceleration mitigation system (UMS) are standard features.
If you have the cash for it, you can get the Mitsubishi L200 Trojan for around Php 1.4 million (£24,699), excluding import taxes and fees.
