The ninth-generation Toyota Hilux, which was launched in Thailand as the Hilux Travo, is available in the Land of Smiles as the Standard Cab, Prerunner, and Overland.The pickup truck's lineup in the Land of Smiles (called the Hilux Travo) includes a battery-electric vehicle (BEV) and several internal combustion turbodiesel trims.
All the while, the newly released Thai-spec Hilux Travo lineup still uses the same Innovative International Multi-purpose Vehicle (IMV) platform as the Philippine-spec Hilux, Toyota Fortuner, and Tamaraw.
To note, the model’s trim lineup’s inclusion of a BEV is part of the Japanese brand’s “multi-pathway approach,” which is seen to provide multiple options for buyers as it works toward achieving carbon neutrality.

Powertrain
The main highlight of the ninth-generation version of the Hilux is the Travo-e BEV variant. At maximum, the said model’s dual eAxle powertrain can generate up to 193 horsepower (hp). It also boasts a range of 315 kilometers (km), thanks to its 52.9-kilowatt-hour battery.
According to Toyota, the battery pack of the Hilux Travo-e is packed under its floor. It likewise uses a De-dion leaf spring suspension system, which is touted to provide it with better stability and a smoother ride.
For charging, the Toyota Hilux Travo-e is available with a CCS2 direct current (DC) port with a maximum power capacity of 125 kilowatts. It also has a slower alternating current (AC) 11-kW port.
As for its other Thai-spec trims, the Prerunner and the Overland all come with the upgraded version of the familiar 2.8-liter turbodiesel, which now has an idle-stop-start feature for improved fuel efficiency. At maximum, it can still produce up to 201 hp and 500 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque.
Available transmissions for the Toyota Hilux Travo variants are a six-speed automatic and a six-speed manual. Depending on the trim, the vehicle comes with rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive with a rear differential lock. It also appears that the all-new Toyota Hilux Travo has dropped the 2.4-liter GD engine, although older versions still sold in Thailand as the Revo retain the smaller-displacement mill.
To note, the Toyota Hilux Travo-e stands as the most expensive trim of the pickup truck model. The Thai market top-spec variant of the Hilux Travo turbodiesel lineup, on the other hand, is the Overland.

Exterior, styling
Appearance-wise, the all-new Toyota Hilux Travo comes with roughly the same silhouette as its predecessor. Its front fascia, however, sports a totally new design equipped with modern touches.
Specifically, the model’s front end now sports a more angular lower front bumper, a flatter square-shaped mesh grille, and a sharper-looking pair of LED headlamp clusters. Its hood also received a tougher appearance, courtesy of dramatic bulges on its flanks.
Otherwise, the side portion of the truck still comes with beefy fender flares, side step boards, and power-folding side mirrors.
In contrast to the adventure-ready Overland trim, the Hilux Travo-e has a slicker overall feel thanks to its smaller front vents and its flatter hood. Then again, the model retains the same high-riding stance as its internal combustion siblings.

Interior
Inside the all-new Toyota Hilux Travo is a five-seater layout equipped with new Softex Leather upholstery. On higher-spec trims, such as the Overland and Travo-e, only the driver’s seat gets power-adjustability, while the rear seat comes with a 60:40 split-fold function.
To give its cockpit a more modern feel, Toyota provided its all-new pickup truck with a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and a 12.3-inch central infotainment touchscreen. Connectivity inside the model is done via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while sound inside the cabin is outputted by an eight-piece speaker set.
Other noteworthy equipment available inside the Thai-spec Toyota Hilux Travo includes, but is not limited to:

Safety
Higher grades of the Toyota Hilux Travo come with dual front airbags, side airbags, side curtain airbags, driver’s knee airbag, anti-lock braking, a panoramic view monitor, vehicle stability control, traction control, hill-start assist, engine immobilizer, and an anti-theft system - among others.
The aforementioned are reinforced by the following advanced driver assist systems:

Availability
The all-new Toyota Hilux Travo, including the Travo-e is now sold in Thailand as of today (November 10). As mentioned above, the brand said it plans to produce the all-new nameplate in the rest of Asia from 2026 onward, and we are keeping our fingers crossed that it will include the Philippine market as well.
The Hilux, after all, is one of the brand’s most popular offerings in the local market. As such, it wouldn’t be much of a stretch to say that many fans of the Hilux are likewise excited to see the Travo-e on local roads.
