Upcoming Toyota RAV4 HEV price to start at P2.183-M

MANILA: The next-generation Toyota RAV4 hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) will be priced at P2.183 million for its ADV variant, and P2.499 million for the LTD trim. 

Pricing details of the upcoming electrified crossover were revealed by the Toyota Makati dealership through a social media post. From the said post, it was also indicated that the next-gen Toyota RAV4 will have the following color options:

ADV HEV AWD CVT	Urban Rock, Massive Gray, Ever Rest
LTD HEV AWD CVT	Platinum White Pearl, Attitude Black, Dark Blue Mica, Avantgarde Bronze

Additionally, a special White Pearl color option is available for the Toyota RAV4 LTD HEV AWD CVT for an additional P15,000. 

The post also confirmed that both Philippine-spec trims of the next-gen RAV4 will feature an all-wheel-drive (AWD) layout. This is an interesting point, since the model’s prices, as indicated above, are notably more affordable than those of the Honda CR-V RS e:HEV AWD, which recently received an update. For reference, the said Honda model currently has an introductory price of P2.788 million. 

No other specifications for the two next-gen Toyota RAV4 variants were shared by the dealership, but the model’s data sheets that were published by the Department of Energy (DOE) indicates that both trims use a 2.5-liter engine paired with an electric motor.

In Japan, the said powertrain’s internal combustion engine can produce up to 183 horsepower (hp), while its electric motor can deliver 134 hp. It also has a battery capacity of 1.09 kilowatt-hours (kWh). 

Size-wise, the next-generation Toyota RAV4’s entry on the DOE website also revealed that the ADV trim is 4,620 millimeters (mm) long, 1,880 mm wide, and 1,745 mm in height. Its wheelbase, meanwhile, spans 2,230 mm. 

In other markets, the next-generation Toyota RAV4 also boasts the following notable features:

• 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster
• New-generation infotainment system
• Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
• Arene Software System
• Over-the-air software updates
• Voice command feature

Safety-wise, the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM) model was kitted out with the Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 - a suite of advanced driver-assist systems (ADAS) with components such as sudden acceleration suppression, a proactive driving assist system, advanced parking assist, and an emergency driving stop system - among others. 

To note, Toyota Motor Philippines has yet to publish the full specifications and features list of the Philippine-spec next-generation RAV4, so let’s wait until the vehicle officially launches next month.
