Yamaha NMAX - Know its alternatives
There are a plethora of motorcycles available in the 150-200cc category. But not everyone has a thing for motorcycles. Some people are more into scooters. And mind you, scooters are no longer boring, underpowered, or less capable than the bikes. Yamaha stirred the segment when it brought the well-acclaimed NMAX. It is a 155cc single cylinder scooter that comes loaded with modern features like LED headlight, digital instrument cluster, etc. It is an outstanding product. However, there are a few alternatives to it that one could consider.
1. Honda PCX150
Just like the Yamaha NMAX, the Honda PCX150 created its own ecosystem and fanbase. The latest model of the PCX150 looks too good for a scooter! Its design is very futuristic. The headlight of this machine is one of its main attractive features. It is very sophisticated and sharp.
Powering the PCX150 is a 150cc single cylinder liquid-cooled engine that produces 14.48 bhp of max power at 8,500 revs and 13.6 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 revs. Being a Honda, the PCX150 offers a smooth and hassle-free ride quality.
Other exciting features of the Honda PCX150 include fully digital speedometer which is well sorted and looks pretty cool, LED tail light with hazard lamp, a console box which has a power outlet with which you can charge your smartphone, the luggage box has a capacity of 28 liters and can accommodate a helmet and more, etc.. Honda has also provided ABS.
The price of the PCX150 is SRP Php 133,900, and it comes in two color options - white and red.
2. Yamaha Mio Aerox 155
The Mio Aerox 155 is a good alternative for NMAX, if you are obsessed with Yamaha. The Aerox 155 has a very sharp design. It features a dual LED headlight setup. The NMAX is on an entirely different level of sophistication when it comes to the design, but the Aerox 155 is no less.
Yamaha has installed a 155c, single cylinder, liquid-cooled engine in the Aerox 155. It generates a maximum power of 14.88 bhp along with apeak torque of 13.8 Nm. Yamaha has also incorporated Blue Core Technology and Variable Valve Actuation system to enhance the performance and efficiency of the Aerox 155.
There are other useful features in the Mio Aerox 155 like a 5.8-inch LCD digital meter, LED tail light, 25-liter under-seat storage compartment, an electric socket, front fuel tank with lid, etc.
Buying the Aerox 155 will cost you Php 99,800 irrespective of the color you pick - Race Blu, Black Raven, and Vibrant Orange.
3.Suzuki Burgman 200
Suzuki claims to ‘redefine urban riding’ with its Burgman 200. Its design is not sharp. There are specific lines to channel the air, but they are appropriately smoothed out. Suzuki has managed to provide a twin headlight setup without giving an intimidating look. The dual light design is implemented in the tail light.
Unlike the two alternatives mentioned above, the Burgman has a higher displacement of 200cc. The engine is a single cylinder, liquid-cooled unit with a power output of 18 bhp at 8,000 revs and torque of 9.6 Nm at 6,500 revs. The extra power here is an advantage, but do not forget the fact that the Burgman also weighs more than the other scooters we suggested.
The Suzuki Burgman has 41 litres of under-seat storage. You can fit in two full-face helmets here. Making things visible in the dark is a small lamp.
Available at a price tag of Php 238,000, the Burgman is a bit dearer. So, if money is not an issue for you, then you can consider this scooter as an alternative to the Yamaha NMAX.
These are the top three alternatives you can pick over the Yamaha NMAX. However, if you have a better option in mind, do let us know in the comment section below.
