2018 Nissan Terra - 5 Things to know
Nissan Philippines today launched the all-new Terra SUV in the market. It came as a much-needed inclusion in the brand's lineup that till date lacked a full-blown sports utility vehicle. Once the new Nissan SUV comes on the road, it’ll take a toll on the likes of Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour, and Mitsubishi Montero Sport. To be able to challenge the existing market leaders in the segment, the Terra needs to have a strong back, which we think it has!
With the launch of a new car, it’s our job to reveal the most about it to the buyers. Here are five things about the 2018 Nissan Terra every buyer and car enthusiasts should know. Let’s get started
1. Ladder-frame platform
The Nissan Terra is built on the tried and tested ladder-frame platform. This under tuning has been used in other Nissan vehicles like the Navara pickup. Proving its worth further is the fact that the same platform underpins the Mercedes-Benz X-Class.
2. Measurements
Many are not aware, but Nissan Terra was first introduced in China. And when compared with the Philippines launched model, we found the two differing in some aspects, one of them being the dimension. The Southeast Asia designated Terra is 15 mm wider and 3 mm longer than its Chinese counterpart. Its measurement sheet reads 4885 mm X 1865 mm X 1835 mm (L X W X H). Blessing it with the go-anywhere capability, the Terra displays a ground clearance reading 225 mm along with an approach and departure angle of 32.3- and 26.6-degrees respectively.
3. Under the hood setup
The Asian-spec of Nissan Terra is powered by a 2.5-litre diesel engine that produces a maximum power output of 190 PS along with a peak torque of 450 Nm. The said mill is mated to a six-speed manual transmission in models offering all-wheel-drive setup. This configuration changes to a seven-speed automatic system in 4WD options. The Terra also features a 4WD differential lock system, hill-descent assist and hill-start assist.
4. High-end features in the range-topping trim
Making sure that the 2018 Terra stands shoulder to shoulder with its competitors, Nissan has integrated the SUV with empowering elements. However, the fully loaded feature kit is only available with the top Terra variant. Included in the list are features like cruise control, touchscreen infotainment system, leather seats, multi-functional steering, 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat, dual zone climate control, and 60:40 split folding seat. On the safety front, the car is guarded by elements like six-airbags, Auto-dimming Rear View Mirror, Lane Departure Warning, Intelligent Around View Mirror with Moving Object Detection, and 360-degree camera.
5. Variants and price
In the end, it all comes down to pricing. The Nissan Terra is offered in five trim options with the price tag of the base variant reading Php 1,499,000. The below-mentioned table shows 2018 Nissan Terra trims along with their respective prices.
That's all the information we have on the all-new Nissan Terra. Wait a little more, as Nissan Philippines will soon open bookings for the new SUV and it'll be available at dealerships for test-driving.
