Nissan GT-R - Things we love

Nissan GT-R - Things we love

The Nissan GT-R has always been up in the league of entry-level sports car. It has everything that one would need out of a powerful vehicle and promises a lot of technologies and electronics.

If you have been following the Nissan GT-R up close, you will realise that it is a worthy enough car compared to the Audi R8, a car that we believe to be an epitome of AWD sports coupe. However, it just makes a few extra PS of power over the Nissan but delivers a lot lesser amount of torque. So, when it comes to the grunt, the GT-R does better at high engine revs.

With that little buildup given, let’s get on by discussing on the things we love about the Nissan GT-R.

The aerodynamics

Nissan GT-R rear

The Nissan GT-R is designed precisely to sculpt the wind it bisects. Despite having the highly loveable design, the shape is extremely functional. There is a large grille that keeps the engine cool during high-intensity rides. However, it does not affect the aerodynamics in any way.

Interior

The cabin of the Nissan GT-R is purely about the craftsmanship of the engineers who developed it. The centre console is very informative and is built for all the tech-savvy people. The dashboard is a combination of analogue and digital. The cockpit is all about analogue dials for speedometer, tachometer, fuel indicator, etc.

The dashboard is wrapped with a single leather hide from Nappa. Also, the leather seat covers are both pleasing and comfortable.

Features

The number of features packed with the Nissan GT-R is just immense. There is an 8-inch multi-touch display which has an enhanced voice recognition and 3D map view. There are NissanConnect Apps which will help you to track the traffic in any area, look at the weather forecast or even check current the fuel prices.

Noise cancellation

The GT-R is also one of the most silent cars to be around in this segment. The company has noise cancellation insulators everywhere so that you have a quiet time inside. Nissan has added what it calls the “Acoustic windscreen”. Through this technology, outside noise is absorbed between the layers of the glass.

Also, there are noise insulators beneath the dashboard which keeps the noise that comes in from the engine bay in check. There is another feature you are going to absolutely love. The GT-R has a wonderful exhaust note and we all know that well. Hence, to make sure that you can enjoy the sound of the engine every second of the drive, the company has added Active Noise Cancellation, which reduced additional noise and brings only the engine note inside the cabin.

Safety system

The Nissan GT-R is presently one of the safest cars to be in for the occupants as well as for the driver. There are six airbags, along with a lot of driver’s assistance system.

The car itself is built with the company Zone Body construction which utilises the high-strength material. This construction keeps the occupants safe when there is a collision impact. There are other controls like a Vehicle Dynamic Control and Traction Control System. The vehicle dynamic control senses over- or under-steer and sends down appropriate power to the wheel in order to control it.

Power

Now, this is something which everyone would absolutely love. All of the features, aerodynamic design and interior sophistication would amount to almost nothing if there was not enough power for the driver to feel.

Nissan GT-R engine

The Nissan GT-R is powered by a 3.8-litre V6 engine with two turbochargers. The power thus produced from the engine is a whopping 570 PS, along with 637 Nm of torque. The power is sent down via a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission gearbox.

Verdict

The Nissan GT-R is very much into the league of powerful sports cars like the Porsche Cayenne Turbo and the Audi R8. But the best part of the GT-R is that it is the most affordable car among the competitors but does not compromise a single bit on the performance or comfort.

Plus, it has the smallest engine among them but still has a decent grunt, thanks to the humongous torque that is on offer. The 20-inch wheels are better than the 19-inch units which come standard in the R8.
