After its launch in Indonesia last November, Filipinos have been waiting for the arrival of the latest generation of Toyota Innova here in the country. According to reports, the next-generation Toyota Innova may be named Zenix in the Philippines.

The third-generation Innova was officially introduced as Toyota Innova Zenix in Indonesia. The name “Innova Zenix” has also been previously registered by the Japanese automaker for the Philippines.

The concept of the 2023 Toyota Innova Zenix is an “Innovative Multipurpose Crossover,” according to Toyota Innova Chief Engineer Hideki Mizuma. He said that the company aims to produce a versatile crossover with the space and utility of a minivan incorporated with global values. The 2023 Toyota Innova Zenix is described by Mizuma as a vehicle for a modern generation that carries over the DNA of an iconic vehicle that has received numerous improvements.

The 2023 Toyota Innova Zenix is the first locally built electrified model for Toyota Indonesia. Major design changes have been made, giving the Innova a striking crossover look. The exterior design of the Toyota Innova Zenix embodies the concept of “Glamorous and Tough,” blending exquisite and rugged body curves and sculptures.

The Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA): GA-C platform, which has a monocoque structure for improved driving comfort, serves as the foundation for the 2023 Toyota Innova Zenix.

Modern upgrades were also made in the interior. The 2023 Toyota Innova Zenix features a new 10-inch head unit with smartphone connectivity, a new 10-inch dual rear-seat entertainment system, new captain chairs with ottomans, and a new panoramic retractable roof.

There are two powertrain options for the 2023 Toyota Innova Zenix: a 2.0-liter gas and a 2.0-liter hybrid-gas. The non-hybrid variant produces 172hp and 205Nm of torque, while the hybrid has a total system output of 184hp.

The 2023 Toyota Innova Zenix gets a 10-speed continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, a semi-autonomous safety device that makes use of advanced sensors and radar, is included as standard equipment on the 2023 Toyota Innova Zenix. This includes Pre-Collision System, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert and Lane Tracing Assist, and Automatic High Beam.

When will the 2023 Toyota Innova arrive here?

There is no announcement yet from Toyota Motor Philippines on when the 2023 Toyota Innova will be launched here. It is still unsure whether the hybrid variant of the next-generation Innova will be available here, but given how actively the company has been introducing its electric vehicles to our market, we assume that it also has plans to bring in the hybrid version of the country's best-selling MPV.
